My grandmother was born in 1900 to Eugene and Myrtle
(Elzey) Chronistor. They were married in 1896.
In 1905, Eugene died. In 1907, Myrtle remarried and
her second husband was Willie or William Wise. A few
years later they were divorced. I have not been able
to find the records of the divorce. He simply
disappeared from the scene.
I would like to know if records were kept of divorces
around the years of 1910 through 1915 at the
courthouse in Decatur. Would anyone know?
Also, the records from the WPA Index that Tim
Singleton has on his site are incorrect. Whoever did
the transcribing did a lousy job. There are still
living people listed on the records. Chances are that
persons wanting to do identity theft can very well
look up the names of individuals born after 1910 and
use their identity. Anyone who has family listed on
these records posted to Tim Singleton's site, should
check the listing and have your relations still living
contact Tim to have their identities removed.
Just a thought,
Sarah
