Hocker Familly Reunion at Bluffton
Decatur, Ind. June 21, 1911. The Hocker family reunion was held Sunday
in the
Lipkey grove a mile east of Bluffton. A cousin, Florence Stevens of near
Massillon, O., who is visiting here, was the guest of honor, the reunion
being
arranged that she might meet the other members of the family. Fifty-five
were
present and a general good time, with a feast at noon, were enjoyed. The
party included Dr. McKeeman and family, Fort Wayne; E.B. Macy and family,
Decatur; C.E. Hocker and family, Decatur; Abe Hocker and wife; Mrs.
Mary Baumgartner and children, Berne; S.H. Hocker and family, Bluffton;
Will Yager and family, Joe Pease and family, Kirkland township; J.F.
Hocker and family; Will Oliver and family, Monroe.

OBITUARY (age 90)
Death Claims Mrs. Hocker Prominent Monroe Woman Dies Wednesday Evening
at
Home
Mrs. Jesteen Hocker, 90, widow of the late Joseph Hocker, pioneer
resident of Adams county and Monroe, and mother of Charles E. Hocker of
South First street, died at 4:15 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at her home
in Monroe. Death was due to complications and infirmities of old age.
She had been ill four days.
The deceased was born in French township February 17, 1849, a daughter
of
Fred and Mary Benne Sunier. Her entire life was spent in Adams county and
for the past 81 years she has been a resident of Monroe.
Surviving are five children: John F. Hocker, Monroe; Charles E. Hocker,
Decatur; Rev. Harvey H. Hocker, Covina, California; Mrs. R.B. McKeeman,
Fort
Wayne; and Otis O. Hocker, Monroe. One daughter, Mrs. T.B. Oliver is
deceased.
Her husband, Joseph Hocker, preceded her in death.
The following brothers and sisters also survive: Mrs. Josephine Biberstine,
Los Angeles, California; Mrs. Sarah Ewing, Oakland, California; Mrs. Cora
Studebaker, Bluffton; Levi Bovine, Bluffton and Alex Bovine, Fort Wayne.
One great great grandchild, 28 great grandchildren and 25 grandchildren
also
survive.
Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10 o'clock at the home
in
Monroe with the Rev. Vernon Riley of the Friends church of Monroe officiating.
Burial will be in the M.R.E. cemetery at Berne.
Friends may view the body until 2 o'clock Friday afternoon at the S.E.
Black
funeral home and at the residence in Monroe until time for the funeral
Saturday.
