Here's another I found in "The Sun" (Portland newspaper) today while
researching for a client. They sure went in to graphic details!
The Sun, Sept. 25, 1908
Headline reads: Adams County Man Dies Of Injuries Made By Boar
William Kukelham, 37, a prosperous and well-known farmer of Adams County,
living in Root township, while feeding hogs Saturday evening was attacked by
a boar weighing 400 pounds. The boar seized his left lef and tore all of
the flesh on both sides from the knee to the ankle. He was severly bitten
on both legs and was seriously wounded in the left side as the animal ripped
him open four inches below the left breast. His brother, fred, who was
doing some feeding near him, heard his cries for help and rushed to his side
and was able to get him over the fence after a fierce fight with the
maddened boar. Forty stiches were necessary to close the wounds. When
found, the boar had its teeth on the shoulder of the man and was endeavoring
to devour his face.
