KIRKLAND FARMER CLAIMED BY DEATH
Eli Beer Died Following illness of Week: Funeral Will be Saturday
Eli Beer, 65, an outstanding citizen of Adams county, died at 6:10 p.m. Wednesday at his
home in Kirkland township, five miles west of Monroe, of bowel obstruction, after an
illness of seven days.
Born in Berne, March 9, 1870, he was the son of Christi and Mary Dubach Beer, and was a
resident of Adams county all his life. He was married in Adams county May 1, 1891, to
Liztta Liechty.
Surviving are the widow and seven children: Mrs. Wilma Bertsch and Homer Beer, both of
French township; Elmer Beer of Monroe township; Melvin Beer and Mrs. Sylvia Ebnit, both of
Fort Wayne; LeRoy Beer, of Decatur, and Mrs. Lena Walchle, of Berne. One son, Edward, is
deceased.
One sister and two brothers surviving are Mrs. Lydia Fink and Christi Beer, both of Berne,
and Isaac Beer, of Monroe township.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 Saturday at the home and at 1:30 at the Christian
Apostolic church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
