Attack Fatal to John Gilliom, 51
John V. Gilliom, 51, of Bluffton Route 4 died of a heart attack at 11:54 p.m. Thursday at
Clinic Hospital, where he had been a patient two weeks.
He had entered the hospital for surgery, which was postponed when it was learned he had a
weak heart.
Born in Adams County July 31, 1914, he was a son of Orel and Elizabeth Gerber Gilliom. His
marriage to Hazel Meyer, who survives, took place Dec. 28, 1941 in Wells County.
A member of the Apostolic Christian Church, he had been employed for seven years by
Franklin Electric.
Surviving, in addition to the wife, are the mother, who resides in Bluffton; a daughter,
Nancy, and three sons, John, Ricky and Allen, all at home.
Six sisters, Mrs. Joel (Aldine) Schaefer, Mrs. Roy (Lucy) Haab, Mrs. Roger (Violet) Isch,
Miss Aldula Gilliom and Miss Nora Gilliom, all of Bluffton and Mrs. Sterling (Elva)
Blocker of Bluffton Route 3; four brothers, Bruce and William, both of Bluffton, Louis of
Bluffton Route 2 and Ralph of Phoenix, Ariz., also survive.
Friends may call at the Goodwin Funeral Home after 7 p.m. today until noon Sunday, when
the body will be taken to the Apostolic Christian Church to lie in state until time of
services at 1 p.m. Rev. John Yergler will officiate and burial will be in the church
cemetery.
