MRS. RITTER DEAD - Another Sad Death Occurred Last Night as a Result of Pneumonia -
DEVELOPED FROM FLU
Was Only 32 Years of Age - Four Children Survive - Funeral Friday
The death of Mrs. Elva Ritter occurred last night at 8:30 at her home five and a half
miles southeast of Decatur from a week's illness from pneumonia.
She was born in Monroeville in 1888 and was formerly Elva Peters. Her parents are both
dead and when she was a babe of one year she was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. William Zerkel
and was known as Elva Zerkel. She has always lived in Washington township and in early
womanhood was united in marriage to Orley Ritter. Five children were born to this union.
One daughter, Emma, died in 1916. Four children, Leon, Robert, Odrey and Henry, besides
the husband survive.
Her foster mother, now Mrs. J. H. Yaney of Coldwater, Ohio and the following brothers
and sisters also mourn their loss: William Peters and Orville Peters, of Chicago; Ora
Ken-Milo Peters, of Bloomington, Ind.; idy of Indianapolis and Mary Hively of Columbia
City, Ind. (**last sentence typed as written**)
She was a member of the Christian church and will be sadly missed in the home and in
her community.
Funeral services will be held at the St. Paul church Friday morning at 10:30, leaving
the house at 10 o'clock. Burial will be in the Maplewood cemetery. Rev. Payne, of
Craigville, Ind., pastor of the Christian Union church will officiate at the funeral.
