Former Local Business Man Killed Sunday - Killed Instantly When Auto Strikes Truck Sunday

Robert R. Reber, 28, a native of Decatur and former businessman of this city, was
killed Sunday at about 8 o'clock when his car crashed into the rear of a ??? panel
truck, three and a half miles west of Ligonier.
The victim, who died almost instantly, resided in Cassopolis, ???, but managed a meat
market in Elkhart. His death was caused by a skull fracture.
The truck, owned by the Radio and Television Maintenance corporation of Fort Wayne,
was operated by Anthony Moricca, also of that city, who had driven off ??? pavement onto
the berm to make repairs after the vehicle developed motor trouble.
The former local man was accompanied by Everett Mabrey, 39, ???awak, who suffered cuts
near the eyes and forehead and was treated by a Ligonier physician. Morricca was not
hurt.
Reber had visited relatives in Decatur earlier Sunday. ??? to entering business in
??gan, he had been employed by meat markets here and operated the Reber cage, no known as
Blackstone.
He was born in Washington township June 20, 1919, the son of Marion and Von
Baltzell-Reber. He was married August 8, 1945 to ??? Fuelling, who survives. He was a
member of the Moose lodge and of the St. Paul's Methodist church. He had spent his
entire life in the community until two years ago.
Surviving, besides the widow and mother, are the following brothers and sisters:
Byron M. of ???gsland, Albert of Chicago, ?. O. of New Castle, Chalmer of Decatur, Mrs.
Lester Adler of Decatur, Mrs. E. B. Mabrey of ??hawaka and Dean M. of Decatur and the
grandfather, T. H. Baltzell of near Decatur.
The body has been returned to the Zwick funeral home in this city. Funeral
arrangements have not been completed.
