Funeral services will be held Tuesday for John H. Reed, 81, retired farmer, who died
suddenly Saturday afternoon of a heart attack at his home 345 North Tenth street. Services
will be held at 10:30 o'clock Tuesday morning at the First Methodist church, with Dr.
M. O. Lester officiating. Burial will be in the Reynolds cemetery. The deceased was born
in Cleveland, O., September 14, 1862 the son of John H. and Mathilda Spangler-Reed. He had
never married. He was a member of the First Methodist church. Only survivors are two
sisters, Miss Polly Reed of Decatur and Mrs. Mathilda Showers of Chicago. Two brothers,
two half-brothers and a half-sister are deceased. The body was removed from the Zwick
funeral home to the residence Sunday evening.
His body was interred June 20, 1944 in Root Twp., Adams Co., Indiana, Reynolds Cemetery.

Miss Polly Reed, age about 85, died last night at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Mittendorf
in Chicago, where she made her home. Formerly of this city, Miss Reed moved to Chicago
about five years ago. R. F. Glendening, assistant cashier at the First State Bank, who was
notified of her death, said that she was one of the oldest members of the First
Presbyterian church in this city. The body will be brought here to the Zwick funeral home.
Funeral arrangements are not complete. Among relatives are Ralph and Brice Roop, nephews
of the deceased.
Her body was interred May 29, 1950 in Root Twp., Adams Co., Indiana, Reynolds
Cemetery.

86, former Decatur resident, who died Friday at Chicago. The Rev. A. C. E. Gillander
