WITH NO WARNING Death Called Mrs. Louisa Garard---Passed Away Saturday Night. DUE TO
APOPLEXY Was Sixty-six Years of Age-Lifelong Resident Of Adams County
Coming wholly without warning to her many relatives and friends, the death of Mrs. Louisa Barbara Garard, widow of George Garard, which occurred Saturday night at ten o'clock from apoplexy, was especially sad. The death occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mont Fee.
Mrs. Garard had been in excellent health during the day and at the time she retired, bidding her customary good night she was in her usual state of health. After she had retired, Mrs. Fee heard her coughing and at once went upstairs to learn the cause. She found her apparently choking and unable to speak. Realizing that her condition was serious she telephoned for a physician and summoned the other relatives, but Mrs. Garard passed away before they could arrive. Last summer it is believed she experienced a forerunner of this, in a slight attack which came upon her while walking to the home of the late Emmanuel Schnitz. She suffered what is to be believed as paralysis. This, however, was very light and after resting for awhile in a home along the way, into which she was taken, she was able to continue, suffering no further until this last fatal attack.
Mrs. Garard, who was sixty-six years of age, was born September 10, 1853, west of this city, being a daughter of Jacob Fuhrman. All of her life was spent in this county. After her marriage she and her husband, George Garard, lived in this city for many years, his death occurring 5 years ago. Their oldest son, Walter, died at the age of ten years. Surviving children are Mrs. Mont Fee, of this city; Mrs. Jessie Smith, Shelbina Mo., Frank Garard, John Garard, Fort Wayne; Robert Garard, linotype operator at this office.
Mrs. Garard was the last one of her family of brothers and sisters, the second last survivor being her brother, Philip, who died last winter.
Mrs. Garard was long a member of the Evangical church, being one of its faithful workers. She was a woman of excellent qualities, faithful as a wife and mother, as well as in other paths wherein the duty called her.
The funeral of Mrs. Garard will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Evangelical church.

DEATH A RELIEF
George E. Garard Passed Away Peacefully Last Evening After A LONG ILLNESS OF Several Years---Was Nearly Life-long Resident of the City.
After an illness of ten or twelve years duration of tuberculosis, death came last evening at 5:30 o'clock as a welcome release from suffering to George Ezra Garard, a well known and highly respected resident of Mercer avenue. Though kind hands did all possible to alleviate his suffering, it was impossible for human hands to vanquish the fatal disease and he grew gradually weaker. This winter his condition grew more critical and his weakness became extreme. Yesterday he took a change for the worse and relatives were called to his bedside, as it was feared death was imminent. He rallied, however, but the end came a few hours later and he passed away peacefully last evening.
Mr. Garard was fifty-eight years, eight months and twenty-one days of age. He was born near Pleasant Mills, Adams county, Indiana, May 28, 1855, and was the son of Charles H. And Eliza Garard. When he was quite young his parents came to this city and purchased a house on Mercer avenue near the Dr. Trout place, and on this street Mr. Garard spent practically his entire life, with the exception of a short residence on High street after his marriage. He was married in young manhood to Miss Louise B. Fuhrman. Very soon afterwards they moved to Mercer avenue and the family lived there since, Mr. Garard spending nearly half a century there.
The widow survives, also the following children; Estil, wife of Mont Fee; Bess, wife of the late Fred Smith of Elbina, Mo., Frank, at home; John of Fort Wayne, and Robert, at home. He also leaves three brothers-Al, of (Cut off)
