Robert Jr. Hahn, 48, of 928 Marshall St., employed at the Decatur Industries, was found dea d at his residence at 12:45 p.m. Monday.
He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose.
Born in Adams County on February 27,1926, he was the son of Homer S. and Bessie S. Beal-Hahn . His father died on March 20, 1969, and his mother resides in Decatur.
Other survivors include one sister, Mrs. Dale Roberta Sapp of Rt. 2 Decatur, and two nieces.
Private services were held at 11 a.m. today at the Winteregg-Linn and Haggard funeral home, with Rev. Arthur Niblack officiating. Burial was in the Ray Cemetery, Monroe.

FATHER OF CITY RESIDENT DIES
Suffering a sudden heart attack at 11 p.m. Friday, John W. Sauer, 1121 Kinnaird St., Fort Wayne, died Friday at the age of 72.
Born Jan. 9, 1902, in Marion, Ohio, to John W. and Louella Souder Sauer, he married Lou Branning March 24, 1924. They had one daughter, Mrs. Dean (Patricia) Boltz, a resident of Decatur.
Mr. Sauer owned and operated Sauer's Jewel Shop since 1950. After being a jeweler all his life, he retired two years ago.
He was a member of the South Wayne Baptist church, Fort Wayne Exchange Club, Fort Wayne Downtown Ass., a past president of the Jewelers Assoc. Moose Lodge, American Legion Post 47 and veteran of WW II.
Sauer is survived by his wife, Lou; his daughter, Mrs. Boltz; three grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Glenn Hill of Canada. He was preceded him death by a sister and brother.
Services will be held Monday, July 22, at 1:30 p.m. at the Chalfant-Perry-Klaehn funeral home, Fort Wayne. Rev. Dias will be in charge of the services there at Concordia Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday. The Zwick funeral home will be in charge of memorial services.

Marjorie L. Andrews, 92, Fort Wayne, died at 12:25 a.m. Wednesday in Covington Manor. She was born on April 9, 1915 in Van Wert County, Ohio, to Albert and Grace Ramsey Burke. She married Roger J. Andrews on May 5, 1934; he died on February 13, 1991. She was a member of the Sandpoint Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in Fort Wayne and was involved with preaching. Surviving are two daughters, Patricia J. "Pattie" Moore of Fort Wayne and Mrs. Jon (Cheryl) Lebsack of Ypsilanti, Michigan; a brother, Von Burke of Sturgis, Michigan; three sisters, Mrs. G.M. (Bonnie) Alspaugh of Rockford, Ohio and Mrs. Glen (Katherine) Isch and Mrs. Roy (Rosie) Schwartz, both of Decatur; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Four sisters and three brothers are deceased. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday in Sandpoint Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, with burial in Decatur Cemetery. Visitation is 6-7 p.m. Friday in Sandpoint Kingdom Hall. Preferred memorials are for world!

Word has been received of the death of Douglas Burke, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Von Burke of Burr Oak, Mich., who was killed in an auto accident Tuesday evening in Sturgis, Mich.
He is the grandson of Mrs. Albert Burke of route 5, Decatur.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 (Michigan time) Friday at the Foglesong funeral home in Sturgis.

FORMER BERNE RESIDENT DIES
Ida Dorothy Beltz, 76, of route 3, Hicksville, Ohio, a former resident of Berne, died at 9:10 a.m. Saturday at Fountain Manor Nursing Home, Hicksville, where she had been a patient since April.
A native of Berne, she lived in the Fort Wayne area 51 years, and sold vegetables and plants at the Barr Street Market for 16 years.
Surviving are her husband, Herbert A., Sr.; two sons, Herbert A. Jr., and James N., both of Fort Wayne; a daughter, Mrs. Berniece Hook of Hicksville; two sisters, Mrs. Ella Fox of Berne and Mrs. Tille Roth of Canton, O.; and three brothers, Rueben Amstutz of Celina, O., Ezra Amstutz of Sun City, Ariz., and Loren Amstutz of Orrville, O.
Friends may call at the D.O. McComb & Sons funeral home where services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Edyth M. Crawford, 88, Route 1, Decatur, widow of Frank E. Crawford, died at ??? p.m. Tuesday at the Decatur Community Care Center. She had been a patient there for six years and in failing health for two years. She was a member of the Unity Church of Los Angeles.
In 1922, she moved to California where she was office manager for a service station wholesale distributor. She retired in 1962 and moved back to Indiana where she made her home with her sister, Florence.
Born in Root Township, Adams County, July 7, 1894, she was the daughter of David M. and Harriet M. Evans-Rice and was married Dec. 24, 1924 to Frank E. Crawford; he died Feb. 14, 1959.
Survivors include a brother, Robert J. Rice, Route 1, Decatur; a sister, Florence VanOrder, Route 1, Decatur; and several nieces and nephews.
In 1829, her great-grandparents homesteaded the land north of Decatur where Robert Rice and Florence VanOrder live today. The farm has been in the family for 153 years.
Four brothers and two sisters preceded her in death: Clyde M. Rice, Mary C. Rice, Benjamin E. Rice, Saloma A. Fuhrman, D. Otto Rice, and Ralph W. Rice.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Zwick, Boltz & Jahn Funeral Home with Rev. C. Albert Nunery officiating. Burial will be in the Decatur Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today.

Wendell Lloyd Abbott, 85 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born on Sunday, August 22, 1926 in Adams County, Indiana the son of the late Clark C. Abbott and the late Lola L. (Gerber) Abbott. He married Imogene M. McFarland on November 7, 1953 in Decatur, Indiana.
Wendell served his country during the Korean War in United States Air Force with active duty from February of 1951 until September of 1952 then he continued his service with the Indiana Air National Guard until May of 1953.
He attended the Decatur Missionary Church for many years and is currently a member of the Cornerstone Community Church.
Wendell was a lifelong farmer and also a school bus driver for North Adams Community Schools for approximately fifteen years. Prior to driving bus, he worked for the Adams County Highway Department for seventeen years.
Surviving are his wife, Imogene M. Abbott of Decatur, daughter, Eileen K. (Dan) Funk of Decatur, daughter, Debra S. (Brian) Diehl of Bluffton, son, Kevin K. (Angie) Abbott of Roanoke, daughter, Rena F. (Rex) Reynolds of Decatur, sister, Patsy J. Bittner of Decatur, brother, Vernon A. (Betty) Abbott of Carthage, sister-in-law, Sharon Abbott of Decatur, Indiana, fifteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Preceding Wendell in death were a brother, Don Abbott and one brother-in-law, Fred Bittner Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 27, 2011 in the Cornerstone Community Church with Pastor Kevin Abbott officiating. Burial will follow in the Decatur Cemetery. Military graveside honors by the American Legion Post 43 Color Guard.
Friends will be received from 1-4 and 5-8 p.m., Friday, August 26 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
Preferred memorials are to Cornerstone Community Church or Family Hospice and Palliative Care.

I live in SC but will be in Bobo this summer. My grandparents are from Adams County -Bobo. Would you like to look there. My grandparents are buried next to the church.I don't remember the name Whipple but know of two other nearby cemeteries. One is very old and nearly abandoned but someone has apparently taken interest in maintaining it somewhat. I will look there also for you. Where do you live? I have some Civil War info that might contain your g g grandfather, will have to take a look

EARL M. WOOD DIES AT HOSPITAL
Earl M. Wood, 77, 25-year owner-operator of Wood Garage in Markle, died at Clinc Hospital in Bluffton at noon Thursday, after a five week illness.
Born Feb. 12, 1897 at Holt, Michigan, he married Bertha Helmrich, Feb. 6, 1926 and later Alma Eckrote on July 14, 1973, after his first wife died on October 6, 1971.
He was a resident of Markle, Indiana from 1948-1973 and a resident of 2409 Indian Village Blvd., Fort Wayne, the past year. He belonged to the Simpson United Methodist Church, Fort Wayne, and the VFW and American Legion Post No. 7, both in Huntington. He was a veteran of WWI.
Wood is survived by his wife, Alma; daughters, Mrs. Clinton (Virginia) Studabaker, Jr. of Bluffton and Mrs. Charles (Rosella) Miller of Fort Wayne; step-daughter, Mrs. Robert (Valory) Blanton of Freemont, Ohio and son, Harold Wood of Markle, owner of Wood Oil Co.
Also surviving him are Mrs. Buelah Hinkley of Seattle, Washington, a sister; 4 step-grandchildren; 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Sunday, July 21, at 3 p.m. at Zwick funeral home under the direction of Rev. Dr. L. C. Sapp. Burial will be at Salem United Church of Christ Cemetery, Magley.
Visiting hours have been arranged at Myers funeral home at Markle, from 2-9 p.m. Friday and at Zwick funeral home from 2 p.m. Saturday until services Sunday.

BROTHER OF AREA RESIDENTS DIES
Howard R. Reynolds, 62, of Fort Wayne, brother of two area residents, died at 10 a.m. Monday in Parkview memorial hospital. He was a 30-year employee of Commonwealth Life Insurance Co., which he served as vice president for 11 years before retiring in 1972.
Survivors include his wife, Golda; one son, John, serving with the Army in Korea; a daughter, Susan, at home; his father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Reynolds of Hoagland; a sister, Deanna Smith of Charleston, Ill., and twin granddaughters, Melissa and Meredith Reynolds.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Faith Lutheran Church with burial at Antioch cemetery. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. today and 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Klaehn's South Anthony Chapel and from 12:30 p.m. until service time Friday at the church. Preferred memorials are to the American Cancer Society.

AGNES E. BAKER
Agnes E. Baker, 71, 609 N. 10th St., died Saturday in Adams County Memorial Hospital's extended care unit after a long illness. She lived in Decatur for 51 years.
She was born on November 4, 1921 in Huntington and married Arthur J. Baker on October 4, 1941. He died on July 23, 1972.
She was a homemaker, a babysitter, and a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and its Rosary Society.
Surviving are four sons, Donald A., Thomas A., Patrick J. and John F. Baker, all of Decatur; a daughter, Debra A. Baker, Decatur; four brothers, Glen Street of South Carolina, Richard and Joseph Street, both of Huntington and Robert Street of Ohio; 11 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
A prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in Zwick-Sefton and Jahn Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Father Glenn Kohrman officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Visiting hours are 2-9 p.m. today. There will also be a scriptural wake service at 8:30 p.m. today. Preferred memorials are to the American Diabetes Association.

DONALD R. STABLER
Donald R. Stabler, 59, Hoagland, died last Thursday. Among survivors are his wife, Betty; two sons; five daughters; his mother; a brother and three sisters.
Funeral services were held Saturday, with burial in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne.

Lois J. Kincaid, 64, Ossian, a native of Adams County, died last Thursday. Among survivors are her husband, Olnie R. Kincaid; three sons; a stepson; two sisters and three brothers.
