SUTTON FUNERAL IS HELD THIS AFTERNOON
Funeral services were held this afternoon at the First Presbyterian Church for Mrs. Garnet Sutton, prominent Decatur lady, who died Tuesday afternoon after a three week's illness. The Rev. Ray J. Walther officiated, and burial was in the Decatur Cemetery.
Pallbearers for Mrs. Sutton, whose husband the late Jesse C. Sutton, was a former judge of the Adams Circuit, were C. H. Muselman, G. Remy Bierly, Lewis L. Smith, Judge Myles Parrish, Severin Schurger and Hubert McCleanahan.

RAYMOND O. LeBRUN
Raymond O. LeBrun, 84, Wren, O., a retired poultry dealer in the Wren area with 55 years of service, died at 1:50 a.m. (EDT) today at the Van Wert County Hospital, where he had been a patient for three weeks. He had been in ill health since June.
He was a member of the Wren U.B. in Christ Church, where he had been a custodian for 30 years. He formerly served on the Wren Town Council for 12 years, and was a member of Homer Pierson Post 207 of the American Legion in Willshire, O.
Born in Decatur on Oct. 4, 1897, he was the son of Ezra and Lucy Hoffman-LeBrun, and was married on March 19, 1918, to Elsie Miller, who survives.
Also surviving are three children, Robert L. LeBrun, route 1, Rockford, O.; Mrs. Gerald (Marjorie) DeBolt, route 1, Markle; Richard D. LeBrun, Marietta, Ga.; a sister, Mrs. Leota Stauffer, Fort Wayne; and three half-brothers, Lelend Sheets, Wren; Carl Sheets, Fort Wayne, and R. Earl Sheets, Decatur; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 3 p.m. (Ohio time) at the Zwick, Boltz & Jahn Funeral Home with Revs. Michael Brown and John Richardson officating. Burial will be in the Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. (Ohio time) Thursday.
Preferred memorial are to the Wren EMS.

ALFRED E. ZUMBRUM
Alfred E. Zumbrum, 76, 317 High St., Berne, a long-time member of the Berne Police Department, died at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday at his private rifle range south of Berne. Death was attributed to a heart attack.
The World War II veteran was a Berne policeman for 35 years, retiring in 1974; he then worked for Berne Furniture Co. for several years. He was a gun collector and an expert marksman.
A member of the Cross United Church of Christ in Berne, Mr. Zumbrum was born February 6, 1906 in Pierce, Nebraska, the son of Albert and Rosa Zumbrum. He was married August 23, 1932 in Berne to Caroline Sommer, who survives.
Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Emma Beutler, Pierce, Nebraska and Mrs. Laura Voechs, Norfolk, Nebraska.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Yager Funeral Home, Berne, Rev. Robert Kauffman officiating and burial will be in the MRE Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by the Berne American Eagles Post.
Friends may call after 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to the church assistance fund.

RAYMOND D. BLEEKE
Raymond D. (Ray) Bleeke, 72, route 3, Decatur (Root Township), who retired from the Decatur works of the General Electric Co. in 1971 after 30 years of service, died at 9:50 p.m. Monday at the Adams County Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient for seven weeks. He had been in failing health for the past year.
Mr. Bleeke was a member of the Decatur Zion Lutheran Church and was a member of the choir there for many years.
Born in Union Township on Feb. 27, 1910, he was the son of Otto and Emilie Steele-Bleeke, and was married on Feb. 17, 1940, to Audrey Ritter, who survives.
Also surviving are two children, Dr. James Blake (name was legally changed), Ridgecrest, Calif., and Sylvia J. Bleeke; six sisters, Mrs. Erna Weiland, Mrs. Clarence (Elise) Dersch, Mrs. Henry (Gretchen) Krueckeberg, all of Decatur; Mrs. Nora Scaer, Convoy, O.; Mrs. Edgar (Vera) Sealscott, Celina, O.; Mrs. Marcella Kirchner, Decatur; two brothers, Grover Bleeke, route 3, Decatur and Morris Bleeke, route 5, Decatur; and one grandson, Sim J. Blake, Ridgecrest, Calif.
Services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church, with Rev. Donald Biester officiating. Burial will be iin the Decatur cemetery.
Friends may call at the Zwick, Boltz & Jahn Funeral Home after 2 p.m. Wednesday and until 11 a.m. Thursday, and at the church from noon until time of the services.

FORMER MONTPELIER POSTMASTER DIES
Dr. Reginald Winfield Cook, 89, prominent retired chiropractor and former postmaster at Montpelier, died at 7:10 a.m. Wednesday at the Blackford county hospital at Hartford City.
Dr. Cook has conducted a chiropractic office since 1915, and served as postmaster at Montpelier for 15 years.
He was a member of the Montpelier Kiwanis Club, a past president of the Chamber of Commerce, was president for two years of the fifth district postmasters, and for many years served as Democratic party chairman in Blackford county.
Surviving are his wife, Minnie; a son, Harry E. Cook of Findlay, O., husband of the former Iverna Werling of Preble; a step-daughter, Mrs. Paul Riggs of Montpelier; two sisters, Mrs. Rose Timmons of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Mrs. Esta Price of Cushing, Okla; two step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Walker funeral home in Montpelier, with Rev. Harry Mann officiating. Burial will be in the Montpelier IOOF Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today.

RECEIVES WORD OF DEATH OF NIECE
Mrs. Katherine Anker has received word of the death of her niece, Miss Lillian Anker (early 50's) of Danville, Ill.
Mrs. Anker had received a Christmas package and letter three days before Christmas. Then on Christmas Eve, Miss Lillian Anker fell and broke her hip. She was hospitalized and died Jan. 6.
Miss Anker owned the Anker Florists in Danville. Her family came from Germany in the early 1800's and had been in business since. She was a member of the German Lutheran church in Danville.
She had many friends in Decatur.

Herald R. Hitchcock
Herald R. Hitchcock, 85, of Decatur, died at 4:03 a.m. Friday in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
He was born on August 10, 1918 in Van Wert, Ohio, to Charles W. and Fannie E. Woods Hitchcock and married Clara E. Mumma on December 4, 1941; she died on November 25, 1989.
He retired from Waynedale Lumber Co. in Allen County and from Arnold Lumber Co. (now Arnold's Do-It Center) in Decatur on January 1, 1989. He was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church and its Builders' Sunday School class.
He was also a Boy Scout leader of Troop 65 at the church as well as a member of Masonic Lodge 571 in Decatur, Scottish Rite Valley of Fort Wayne, the Decatur Optimist Club, the Disabled American Veterans, and American Legion Post 43 in Decatur.
Surviving are a son, John R. Hitchcock of Kalamazoo, Michigan; two daughters, Mrs. Jim (Nancy) Teeter and Mrs. Steve (Marta) Rumschlag, both of Decatur; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A son and six sisters are deceased.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Mark's United Methodist Church, with burial in Decatur Cemetery, including military graveside rites by the color guard from American Legion Post 43.
Visitation is 6-7:30 p.m. today in Porter Auditorium at Woodcrest Retirement Community of Decatur and 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday in Haggard and Sefton Funeral Home, Decatur, with an Optimist memorial service at 5:45 p.m. and a Masonic memorial service at 6 p.m.
Preferred memorials are to the church or to the scholarship fund of the Decatur Optimist Club.

Mrs. Daisy M. Robison, 88, of Monroeville, died at midnight Thursday night in Crow's Haven nursing home in Fort Wayne.
A resident of Monroeville most of her life, she was a member of East Liberty United Methodist church.
Surviving are a son, Harold Robison of Monroeville; two daughters, Mrs. Dewey Roth of Fort Wayne and Mrs. Doyle Gilbert of Dixon, O.; three brothers, Perry Teeter of Decatur, Alvie Teeter of Berne and Archie Teeter of Elkhart; eight grandchildren.

MRS. SARA WIEBE DIES AT HOSPITAL
Mrs. Sara Wiebe, 73, of Decatur, route 5, who came to the United States from Russia in 1964, died at 2:40 p.m. at the Adams County Memorial Hospital. She had been ill for the past year.
Mrs. Wiebe made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Latie Lehr of Decatur route 5.
She was born in Rudnerweide, Ukraine, May 14, 1896, a daugher of Cornelius and Sarah Schroeder-Goertz, and was married to Johann Wiebe May 13, 1923. Her husband preceded her in death April 15, 1938.
Mrs. Wiebe attended the Immanuel Lutheran church in Union Township.
Surviving in addition to the daughter, are a grandson, Hans Lehr of Decatur route 5, and a sister, Mrs. Helen Klassen of Russia.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Zwick funeral home and at 2 p.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran church. Rev. Ronald Michael will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today until time of the services.

MRS. ERMIN BIXLER DIES AT HOSPITAL
Mrs. Florence Bixler, 64, wife of Ermin E. Bixler, 306 West Franklin Street, Berne, died at 6:10 a.m. Saturday at the Clinic hopital in Bluffton. She had been ill since September and seriously ill since Jan. 2.
Mrs. Bixler served as secretary to O. F. Gillion, prominent Berne insurance agent, and after his death, was secretary at the Stahly Insurance Agency in Berne.
Born at Berne Feb. 14, 1905, she was a daughter of John and Katie Hilty, and was married to Ermin E. Bixler August 24, 1932.
Mrs. Bixler was a member of the Cross United Church of Christ at Berne.
Surviving are her husband; two sons, Ned Bixler at Clyde, O., and Paul Bixler of Waterford, Wis., both high school teachers; her mother, Mrs. John Brown of Berne; one brother, Karl Hilty of Berne; one sister, Mrs. Ernest Hiestand of Old Fort, O., and five grandchildren. One sister is deceased.
Funeral rites will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Yager funeral home, with Robert Hegnauer and Rev. Wilson Bixler officiating. Burial will be in MRE Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. today. Preferred memorials are to the Cross United Church of Christ.

LYDIA THOMPSON DIES AT HOSPITAL
Mrs. Lydia Thompson, 79, of 355 West Franklin street, Berne, died at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday at the Adams County memorial hospital, where she had been admitted Monday. She had been ill for five weeks.
A lifelong resident of Adams County, she was born in French township, March 15, 1890, a daughter of Anthony and Mary Burry-Simon, and was married to William S. Thompson Aug. 29, 1908. Her husband preceded her in death in 1966.
Mrs. Thompson was a member of the Evangelical Mennonite church, west of Berne.
Surviving are one son, Earl W. Thompson of Berne; one brother, David Simon of Berne and one grandson. Four brothers and three sisters are deceased.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Yager funeral home in Berne, with Rev. Robert Zehr officiating. Burial will be in the Evangelical Mennonite church cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today.

MRS. JOHN MAGLEY DIES THIS MORNING
Mrs. Bernice Peterson Magley, 86, widow of John C. Magley and resident of 103 Marshall street, died at her home at 10:30 a.m. today.
Although she had been suffering from heart trouble and had been in failing health the past four months, death was unexpected. Her daughter, Mrs. Dora Marie Aughenbaugh, had been staying with her most of the time during her illness.
The daughter of Robert S. and Fanny C. Kunkel-Peterson, she was born Feb. 17, 1883 in Decatur. She was married at Hoagland Aug 9, 1901 to John C. Magley, who preceded her in death March 23, 1957.
For nearly 50 years the Magleys lived in Root township, where Mr. Magley farmed. They had six children, three of whom survive: Mrs. Aughenbaugh of Fort Wayne, J. Robert Magley of Warsaw and Calvin P. Magley of Decatur. An unnamed son who died at birth in 1902, a son Charles H. Magley and a daughter Mrs. Hattie Florence Breiner, preceded Mrs. Magley in death.
Of 12 brothers and sisters, one brother, Calvin E. Peterson and two sisters, Mrs. Grace Allwein and Miss Elizabeth Peterson, all of Decatur, survive. Mrs. Magley has 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

NATIVE OF DECATUR DIES AT FORT WAYNE
Mrs. Ida C. Cable, 67, of 2702 Waynewood Drive, Fort Wayne, and a native of Decatur, died Wednesday morning at the Parnell nursing home, where she had been a patient five days.
Mrs. Cable was born in Decatur to A. J. and Emma Beavers, and had lived in Fort Wayne for 47 years.
She was a member of the Waynedale United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Arthur Cable; a daughter, Mrs. Howard Diedrich of Fort Wayne; a son, Claud Cable of Ypsilanti, Mich.; her mother, Mrs. Emma Beavers, a patient at the Van Rue nursing home in Van Wert, O.; three brothers, Alfred and Edward Beavers, both of Decatur and Clarence Beavers of Fort Wayne; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Her father preceded her in death in July of 1940.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at the Elzey home for funerals at Waynedale, with Rev. H. H. Backs officiating. Burial will be in the Decatur Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home until time of the services.

DEWEY CARR DIES SUNDAY MORNING
Dewey Carr, 71, of Willshire, O., route 1, died at 4 a.m. Sunday at the Clinic Hospital in Bluffton where he had been a patient for one week.
He was born in Mercer county, O., Sept. 2, 1898, a son of Sam and Jessie Smalley-Carr, and was married to Lillian Martz March 18, 1918.
Mr. Carr formerly did farm contracting for field tile and ditching.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, Chester and Calvin Carr, both of Rockford, O.; his father, Sam Carr of Rockford route 1; three brothers, Robert Carr of Decatur, Kenneth Carr of Fort Wayne and David Carr of Willshire; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Merriman of Decatur and Mrs. Carl Eicher of Lakeside, O.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Ketcham-Ripley funeral home at Rockford, with Rev. Paul Parker officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at Rockford. Friends may call at the funeral home until time of services.
