Ruth Ann Brake Bailey, 63, Van Wert, Ohio, a former Wren, Ohio resident with several relatives in this are, died Monday in Van Crest Nursing Home after a two-year illness.
The Wren native married Wilbur Brake; he survives. She married William A. Bailey in 1992; he survives.
She worked at CTS in Berne and was a member of Decatur's United Brethren in Christ Church.
Other survivors are two sons, Mark A. Brake, Wren, and Philip J. Brake, Boyd, Texas; a daughter, Penny B. Strouse, Decatur; a sister, Maxine Sharpe, Wren; and four brothers, Duane Clifton, Willshire; Ralph Clifton, Grabill; Floyd Clifton, Pleasant Lake; and Rex Clifton, Angola. A brother, Carl Clifton, and a stepson, Scottie Bailey, are deceased.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in United Brethren in Christ Church, Decatur, Rev. James E. Sturgeon officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert. Visiting hours will be from 2-9 p.m. Thursday in Zwick-Sefton and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, and noon-1 p.m. Friday at the church. Raymond W. Bodle, Sr., 76, 503 N. 12th St., died Sunday in Adams County Memorial Hospital.
He was born on April 13, 1917 in Decatur to Ira G. and Ora G. Click Bodle and married Lucille Wolfcale on June 29, 1944. She survives.
He retired in 1979 after a 38-year career at Decatur's General Electric Co. plant.
Other survivors are seven sons, Barry Bodle, Spiro, Oklahoma; Gary, Dennis, and Gene Bodle and Raymond W. Bodle, Jr., all of Decatur; Michael Bodle, Ossian; and Dean Bodle, Scott Ohio; two daughters, Janice Thornton, Wren, Ohio, and Mrs. William (Mary) Clark, Geneva; two brothers, Odes Bodle, Van Nuys, California, and Wayne Bodle, Decatur; a sister, Joan Hitchcock, Decatur; 21 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Marcella Bodle, and a brother, Walter Bodle, are deceased.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Haggard and Armes Funeral Home, Decatur, Dr. Robert Stuck officiating. Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery. Harry W. Lehman, 81, Berne, died Tuesday in Swiss Village of a heart ailment. He had been ill for a year.
He was born on August 18, 1911 in Adams County to Burkhart and Lydia Sprunger Lehman and married Esther Reinhard on September 3, 1933. She survives.
He was a retired farmer and a member of First Mennonite Church, Berne.
Other survivors are include (sic) a son, Dr. Max Lehman, Berne; a daughter, Mrs. Edward (Joyce) Fox, Berne; two brothers, Harley and Leslie Lehman, both of Berne; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Deceased are three sisters (Molly Neuenschwander, Cora Nussbaum, and Viola Stetler) and five brothers (Leo, Herman, Elmer, Albert, and Reuben Lehman).
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in First Mennonite Church, with burial in MRE Cemetery, Berne. Visiting hours are 2-9 p.m. Thursday in Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home, Berne, and 9-10 a.m. Friday in the church. Preferred memorials are to church missions and/or Swiss Village.

The native of Paulding County, Ohio, is survived by his wife, the former Betty Case; three sons, two daughters; two sisters, including Pauline Hurless, Willshire; and two brothers, including Arthur "Fuzzy" Foster, rural Willshire.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Cowan and Son Funeral Home, Van Vert, with burial in Middle Creek Cemetery, Grover Hill. Reuben Lehman, 89, Berne, died of an apparent heart attack at 7:55 p.m. Sunday in Swiss Village Retirement Center, his residence since June 2, 1990. He had been in failing health for three years.
He was born on June 13, 1902 in Berne to Burkhart and Lydia Sprunger Lehman and married Florence Kirchhofer. She survives.
He retired from Berne Lumber Co., after a 36-year career and was a member of First Mennonite Church, Berne.
Other survivors include a son, Leon Lehman, Bluffton, Ohio; three daughters, Mrs. Rev. Gary (Elsie) Stenson, Lansdale, Pennsylvania; Mrs. Merlin (Carol) Bixler, Berne; and Mrs. Robert (Marietta) Peters, Quarryville, Pennsylvania; three brothers, Harry and Leslie Lehman, both of Berne, and Harley Lehman, Decatur; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Four brothers (Leo, Herman, Elmer, and Albert Lehman) and three sisters (Cora Nussbaum, Molly Neuenschwander, and Viola Stettler) are deceased.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in First Mennonite Church, Rev. Curt Claassen officiating. Burial will be in MRE Cemetery, Berne. HAROLD KIRCHENBAUER
Harold Kirchenbauer, 72, of Ohio City, Ohio, a retired Willshire Township farmer, died Tuesday at 4:20 p.m. at the Vancrest Nursing Home in Van Wert.
Born in Willshire Township on Sept. 24, 1904, he was the son of Gottlieb and Antonett Schaadt-Kirchenbauer, and was married on Aug. 30, 1928 to Bernice Allen, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Bill, Ohio City; Clair, West Richfield, Ohio; one brother, Lester, Van Wert; six grandchildren and great-grandchildren. One grandchild, five brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. (Ohio time) Friday at the Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert, with Rev. Ron D. Fruth officiating. Burial will be in the Ohio City Woodlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. (Ohio time) Thursday.

Lora C. Moorman, 68, route 5, Marion, died at 5:55 a.m. Thursday at the Wesleyan Nursing Home in Marion, where he had been a patient for several weeks.
The father of Ralph Moorman of Decatur and Mrs. Otis (Donna) Brock, of Monroe, Mr. Moorman had been in ill health for approximately four years. He was retired from the General Motors plant in Muncie, where he worked for 17 years.
He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Hartford City and of the Junior Order of Mechanics of Jonesboro.
Born in Monroe Township in Grant County, Indiana on March 7, 1909 to Frederick and Elizabeth Fleming-Moorman, he was married in 1942 to Lo?? Coleman, who survives. Other survivors include two sons: Ralph of Decatur and Dick of Upland; four daughters, Mrs. Otis (Donna) Brock of Monroe, Mrs. Robert (Erma) Klinger of Convoy, Ohio; Mrs. Morris (Sarah) Kleinknight of Bluffton and Mrs. Jimmy (Judith) Woodruff of West Lafayette; two sisters, Mrs. Griff (Ruth) Morgan of Warren and Mrs. Virgil (Doris) Hamilton of Findlay, Ohio; three brothers, Oscar of Marion, Robert of Alexandria and Frederick of Marion and 18 grandchildren.
Services for Mr. Moorman will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday morning at the Jones Funeral Home in Upland, Indiana, with the Rev. James D. Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. today and until the time of services on Saturday.
Preferred memorials are to the First Church of the Nazarene (Hartford City, Indiana) Building Fund.

Services for Charles X. Niblick, 92, of 2810 S. Harrison St. will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday in Mungovan & Sons South Chapel and at 10 a.m. in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. He died at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in Lutheran Hospital, where he had been a patient one week.
Mr. Niblick, a native of Decatur, lived in Fort Wayne more than 50 years. He was a retired employe of City Utilities.
Surviving are his wife, Frances; and a daughter, Mrs. Mary Frances Zehner, Fort Wayne.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. Rosary services will be at 7:30 p.m. today. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery.

Raymond Beer, 76, Berne, well-known retired Berne postal employee and civic leader died suddenly of a heart attack at home at 8:30 a.m. today. He was a lifelong Adams County resident.
He was born in Adams County on June 4, 1914 to Christian C. and Sarah Ellenberger Beer and married Etta M. Anspaugh on March 21, 1948. She survives.
He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 47 years as a clerk, rural mail carrier, and assistant postmaster at the Berne Post Office. He was a Scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts of America for 25 years, served as District Commissioner of the Boy Scouts, and was awarded the Silver Beaver award for his many years of service to scouting.
He was a member of and former elder of Corss United Church of Christ, Berne, and a member of the church's building committee and choir. He also was on the board of directors at Swiss Village, Berne.
Other survivors are a son, Larry W. Beer, Bedford, Virginia; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Sherry) Caldwell, route 2, DeLand, Florida; a brother, Elmer C. Beer, Berne; two sisters, Mrs. Henry (Rosella) Nussbaum, route 1, Berne, and Edna Schindler, Berne; and three grandchildren. Deceased are four brothers, Harvey, Ermin, Merlin, and Jesse Beer, and six sisters, Lovina Pickford, Rufina Roth, Della Beer, Caroline Sallot, Lillie Rich, and Dora Spichiger.
Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Cross United Church of Christ, Dr. William A Huenemann officiating. Burial will be in MRE Cemetery. Visiting hours at Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home are 2-9 p.m. Wednesday. There is visitation at the church from 9-10:30 a.m. Thursday. Theresa S. Adler, 100, route 1, Monroe, a longtime Adams County resident and a former teacher, died at 12:01 a.m. today Brighton Hall Nursing Home, New Haven, her residence recently. She lived the past eight years with her daughter in Fort Wayne.
She was born on April 6, 1889 in Adams County to Thomas H. and Emma J. Andrews Baltzell and married Carl G. Adler on November 22, 1913; he died on January 4, 1964.
She was a Decatur High School graduate in the early years of the century and received her teaching degree from Indiana University. She later taught at the old Smith School in Adams County and Magley School before working for her father, while he served as Adams County Auditor.
She was a longtime member of Zion United Church of Christ in Decatur, a member of its Ruth and Naomi Circle and Women's Guild, and taught Sunday School there for many years. She was also a member of the Decatur chapter of the Order of the Easter Star, the Antoin Rivarre chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Happy Homemakers Home Economics Club.
Surviving are one son, Thomas W. Adler, route 4, Decatur; one daughter, Dorothy I. Adler, Fort Wayne; two brothers, John C. Baltzell, route 6, Decatur, and Victor L. Baltzell, route 4, Decatur; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Four sisters (Von Reber, Ruth Williams, Electa Lochner and Crystal Elzey) and two brothers (Walter and Dent Baltzell) are deceased.
Funeral services are at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Zwick-Sefton and Jahn Funeral Home, Rev. Francis Freeman officiating. Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery. Robert A. Riley, 56, route 6, Decatur, a shipping department employee of Phelps Dodge Magnet Wire in Fort Wayne since 1947, died at 4:53 p.m. Tuesday in Parkview Memorial Hospital.
He had admitted (sic) to the hospital the day before after suffering a stroke Sunday. He was transferred from McCray Hospital, Kendallville, Monday afternoon.
He was a member of Pleasant Mills United Methodist Church. Born in Adams County on Sept. 6, 1929, he was the son of Reed and Esther Mauller-Riley, and was married June 24, 1950, to Mildred Barker; she survives.
Also surviving are the mother, of Pleasant Mills; five children, Michael E. Riley, North Lawrence, O.; Arnold L. Riley, route 1, Monroe; Mrs. Bill (Marsha) Schwalm, Ft. Myers, Fla.; Mrs. Scot (Annamae) Odle, Indianapolis; Mrs Kevin (Robin) Caffee, Willshire, O.; two sisters, Mrs. Edward (Vivian) Tricker, route 6, Decatur; Mrs. William (Joan) Workinger, route 7, Decatur; and seven grandchildren. Gertrude Smith Stucky, 89, Syracuse, a native of Berne, died Tuesday at Lakeland Loving Care Home, Milford. She would have been 90 years of age on Aug. 28.
She married Elmer Stucky on March 14, 1915 and moved from Berne to Syracuse in 1933 when he became superintendent of Oakwood Park. He died May 9, 1967.
She was a 50-year member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Syracuse, and the Lois Circle and Syracuse Wednesday Afternoon Club.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Lewis (Gwen) Immel, Syracuse; three sons, James, Syracuse; Lyman, Lapaz; and Ted, Lake Oswego, Ore.; eight grandchildren; and one half-brother, Rev. M. Lawrence Smith, Boyertown, Pa. One sister, Elnora Bixler, and four brothers, William Phillip, Orva N., A. Clayton and Leslie B. Smith, preceded in death.
Services were held this afternoon at Calvary United Methodist Church, Syracuse. Burial was in the Syracuse Cemetery. Memorials are to the Music Department of the church. The Harris Funeral Home, Syracuse, was in charge of arrangements.

Henry Zimmerman, 79, Sarasota, Fla., a native of Adams County, died Friday.
He was the son of John and Mary Schindler-Zimmerman, and spent most of his life in Anderson and Fort Wayne.
Survivors include three daughters, Wauneta of California; Mary of Colorado; and Melba of Florida; three brothers, Palmer of Kokomo; Edward of Berne and Richard of Florida; and one sister, Mrs. Howard (Dorothy) Kennel, also of Florida.
Burial was in Florida.

Abner W. Elzey, 68, Former Ossian Funeral Director, Dies
Former Ossian funeral director Abner W. Elzey, 68, of Ossian died at 2:30 a.m. today at Parkview Hospital where he was taken by the Ossian EMS unit at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday after suffering a massive heart attack.
Death came quite unexpectedly as he had been in his usual health and had not experienced prior heart problems.
Mr. Elzey retired in 1959 after 24 years, except for the World War II period, as a full partner in the funeral directory and furniture business in Ossian and Waynedale with his father, Dale E. Elzey, and grandfather, Abner S. Elzey.
A member of the Ossian Masonic Lodge, Mr. Elzey was also a member of the Fort Wayne Scottish Rite and Mizpah Shrine. In earlier years he was an avid bowler.
Born Sept 28, 1915 in Wells County, he was a son of the late Dale E. Elzey and Mrs. Magdaline White Elzey of Ossian. His marriage to Anne Young, who survives, took place Aug. 20, 1934 at Port Huron, Mich.
In addition to the wife and mother, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Sondra Roellchen of Kalamazoo, Mich., and Mrs. Ron (Dalene) Lerch of Fort Wayne; a son, Dr. D. H. Elzey of Fort Wayne; a sister, Mrs. E.A. (Phyllis) Baade of Lewistown, Pa., and seven grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Elzey-Dickey-Haggard Funeral Home in Ossian. Services there at 10:30 a.m. Saturday will be in charge of Rev. Jay McMillen and burial will be in the Oak Lawn Cemetery at Ossian.
Memorials have been designated to the Ossian EMS or to the Wells County Heart Association.

Glennys C. Schindler, 78, 667 Indiana St., Berne, died at 11 a.m. Sunday in Lutheran Hospital, Ft. Wayne.
A native of Adams County and a retired home ec teacher, she taught in the Kirkland High School and taught 21 years in the Berne High Schoo. She was a member of Cross United Church of Christ, Berne.
Born Nov. 8, 1905, she was the daughter of William and Sarah (Jackson) Arnold and was married in Warsaw Aug. 31, 1945, to Ornell Schindler, who survives.
Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Mary Arnold and Mrs. True (Elsie) Andrews of Decatur; and three brothers, Homer and Kenneth Arnold of Decatur and Vernon Arnold of Benson, Ariz.
Services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Cross United Church of Christ in Berne, Rev. Robert Kauffman officiating.
Friends may call after 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home, Berne, and at the church Wednesday one hour prior to the service. Preferred memorials are to the Church Assistance Fund of Corss United Church of Christ, Berne.

Elizabeth Hirschy, 91, route 2, Bluffton, a native of Adams County, died suddenly at 6:45 p.m. Thursday at Davis Bluffton Nursing Home.
A daughter of Fred and Fannie Ruff-Reinhart, she was born May 18, 1892, and was married to Samuel Hirschy March 22, 1913, in Vera Cruz; he died May 9, 1974.
She was a member of the Apostolic Christian Chruch.
Survivors include two sons, Edward Hirschy, at home, and Dennis Hirschy, route 2, Bluffton, a daughter, Mrs. Clarence (Anna Louise) Sowers, Elko, Nev.; a sister, Mrs. Lydia Liechty, Meadowvale CareCenter; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Goodwin Memorial Chapel, Bluffton, today. The body will be taken at noon Sunday to the Bluffton Apostolic Christian Church for services at 1 p.m. Rev. Orville Ringger and Rev. Carroll Gerber will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.

HAROLD GAY
Harold J. Gay, 64, of 633 Cleveland St., a projectionist for 45 years in theatres in Decatur and Fort Wayne, died at 4:55 p.m. Wednesday at the Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, following a brief illness.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Mr. Gay was a partner with his brother, Robert E. Gay, in the operation of Gay's Mobil Station for 19 years.
Born in St. Mary's Township on Sept. 9, 1912, he was a son of Claude and Lena Miller-Gay, and was united in marriage on June 21, 1938 to Mildred Brodbeck, who survives, along with the brother, Robert, of Decatur. One sister preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Winteregg-Linn & Haggard Funeral Home, with Rev. R. Stephen Newnum officiating. Burial will be in the Decatur Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Friday. Preferred memorials are to the First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
