LENA M. BOWYER
Lena M. Bowyer, 83, a native of Monroeville who lived there until nine months ago, died at 9 p.m. Monday in Lakeside Manor, Decatur. She lived the past month at Lakeside and the previous eight months in Adams County Memorial Hospital's extended care unit.
The Monroeville native married Joseph F. Bowyer; he died in 1964.
She was a longtime teacher at the old Liberty and Monroeville schools in Allen County and the old Dixon, Ohio school.
Among survivors are a son, James E. Bowyer, Fort Wayne; a daughter, Mrs. Fred (Ann) McDougall, route 1, Decatur; a sister and a brother.
Funeral services are a 1 p.m. Thursday in Marquart and Jacobs Funeral Home, Monroeville. Burial will be in Monroeville Memorial Cemetery. Visiting hours are 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday. Preferred memorials are to Monroeville EMS.

ROBERT L. OWENS
Robert L. Owens, 69, 425 McBarnes St., died at home at 8 p.m. Sunday.
He was born on October 6, 1921 in Decatur to Arbie and Emma Genevieve Hebble Owens and never married.
He was a retired employee of Decatur's General Electric Co. plant, a veteran of the U.S. Army in World War II, and a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church, Adams Post 43 of the American Legion, and the Veteran's of Foreign Wars, of which he was a life member.
Surviving is a sister, Mrs. Robert (Alice) Pursley, Pittsburg, Kansas.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Haggard and Armes Funeral Home, Rev. James Hook officiating. Burial will be at Decatur Cemetery, with military graveside rites by American Legion Post 43. Visiting hours are 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Mark's church.

Stella R. Miller, 86, Fort Wayne, sister of a Decatur woman, died Saturday at Parkview Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Her husband, Leon, died in 1962. Among survivors are a sister, Annabelle Gehrig, 409 Dormac St.
Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday in C.M. Sloan and Sons Funeral Home, Fort Wayne, with burial in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne. Visiting hours are 1-2 p.m. Tuesday.

Emilie H. Saalfrank, 85, Fort Wayne, mother of a Willshire, Ohio woman, died Saturday in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Her [sic] Alfred died in 1955. Among survivors are two daughters, including Eileen Schumm, Willshire, and a sister.

LUCILLE SPRUNGER
Lucille Sprunger, 84, Berne, died at 10:25 p.m. Sunday in Swiss Village, her residence since July 6, 1981. She was a former resident of Bluffton.
She was born on October 15, 1906 in Adams County to Merle and Elizabeth Smith Laisure and married Eldon E. Sprunger on September 25, 1926; he died July 1969.
She was a homemaker and a member of Bluffton United Church of Christ.
Surviving are an uncle, Alonzo Smith, route 1, Monroe, and four cousins: Mrs. J. Robert (Chloe) Myers, Berne; Chester Smith and Mrs. Howard (Eloise) Nussbaum, both of Monro; and Lester Smith, route 8, Decatur.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home, Berne, with burial in MRE Cemetery, Berne. Visiting hours are 3-9 p.m. Tuesday and 9-10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Preferred memorials are to Swiss Village.

Gainess Brown, 93, 1134 Master Dr., died Sunday at home.
She was born on Feb. 7, 1900 in Grant County to John and Clara Powless Baker and married Forrest E. Brown on February 14, 1920. He died on October 10, 1979.
She was a retired employee of Decatur Industries and a member of First United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. James (Norma) Markley, Decatur; a stepdaughter, Doneta Barkenheimer, Columbus, Indiana; four grandchildren; one stepgrandson; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Haggard and Armes Funeral Home, Rev. John E. Weeks officiating. Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery. Visiting hours are 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday. Preferred memorials are to the donor's choice.
