Frances A. Peterson, 80, of 121 S. Ninth St., widow of Merrill S. Peterson, died at 3:05 a.m. today in the Adams County Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.
A lifelong resident of Adams County, she was born April 29, 1902, the daughter of Peter and Catherine Weber-Schneider. She was married to Merrill S. Peterson on June 14, 1930; he preceded her in death on February 16, 1970.
Mrs. Peterson was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Rosary Society.
Surviving are two sons, Max T. of Kenosha, Wisc., and David S. Peterson, Ft. Wayne; one daughter, Mrs. Jack (Mary C.) Gaffer of Decatur; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Five brothers and three sisters are deceased.
A Mass of the Resurrection has been tentatively set for 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Father John E. Gillig as celebrant. Burial will be in the Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Gillig-Doan & Sefton Funeral Home after 7 p.m. Wednesday. The rosary will be recited at 8:30 p.m. Thursday. Preferred memorials are to the St. Mary's Parish Improvement Fund.

Miles W. Stoneburner, 78, route 1, Albion, a former resident of Adams County and brother of Mrs. John Arnold, Decatur, died at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in McCray Memorial Hospital, Kendallville, where he had been a patient two weeks. He was a retired farmer.
Born Jan. 26, 1897, in Adams County, he was a son of Jessie and Sarah Kistler-Stoneburner, and was married to Nellie Hall in Wells County on Jan. 22, 1920. His wife died Jan. 16, 1975.
Mr. Stoneburner was a member of the Tocsin United Methodist Church and was a former Wells County resident.
Surviving are a son, Roger, Albion route 1, a daughter, Mrs. Wanda Munk, Kendallville route 1, and two sisters, Mrs. John Arnold, Decatur, and Mrs. Mary Dilling, Huntington.
Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at the Brazzell Funeral Home in Albion, where funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday. Graveside rites will be held at 3:30 p.m. at the Oak Lawn Cemetery at Ossian.

Katherine Gase Dies This Morning
Katherine M. Gase, 86, died at 3:45 a.m. today in Adams county memorial hospital. She had been in failing health for the past year.
A resident of Decatur nearly all her life, she was born in Germany in 1878, a daughter of George and Margaret Kern Diener. She came to the United States when she was three years old.
She was first married to Nicholas Lang, who died in 1908. She was married July 16, 1911 to Philbert E. Gase, who died in 1948. A sister and a brother also preceded her in death.
She had lived for the past three months with her daughter, Mrs. Mary Schnepf. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church and belonged to the church chapter of the Rosary Society and the Third Order of St. Francis.
Surviving are five sons, George Lang of Cupahoga Falls, O., Ambrose Gase of Decatur, Eugene Gase of Decatur, Bernard Gase of Fort Wayne and Richard Gase of Decatur; five daughters, Mrs. Virgillia Bruening, Cleveland, O., Mrs. Floyd Fugit, Pasadena, Calif., Mrs. Vere Welker of Fort Wayne, Sister Catherine Marie C. S. A. of Hays, Kan., and Mrs. Mary Schnepp of Decatur.
Also surviving are four stepchildren, Anthony Gase of Decatur, Edward Gase of Decatur, Irenaus Gase of Decatur and Raymond Gase of Humbolt, Tenn., 43 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren. One son, Clem, preceded her in death.
The body is at the Zwick funeral home where friends may call after 7 p.m. this evening. The rosary will be recited by members of the Third Order of St. Francis at 7 p.m. and by members of the Rosary society at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday in St. Mary's Catholic church, with Msgr. Simeon J. Schmitt officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic cemetery.

Mildred A. "Dewey" Gay, 81, 633 Cleveland St., died Saturday at home.
She was born on September 3, 1911 in Adams County to Clarence and Cora Shell Brodbeck and married Harold Gay on June 2, 1928. He died on June 15, 1977. She was a homemaker who was a member of First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.
Surviving is a brother, Walter "Ike" Brodbeck, Decatur. Deceased are two sisters, Fanny Ross and Thelma Hakes, and four brothers, Chester, Roy, Marion, and John Brodbeck.
Funeral services were held this afternoon in Haggard and Armes Funeral Home, with burial in Decatur Cemetery. Preferred memorials are to the church.

Mildred C. "Millie" Ray, 80, 1124 Nuttman Ave., died Saturday in Adams County Memorial Hospital after being stricken Wednesday at home.
She was born on November 13, 1912 in Marion and married Gerald Ray on July 26, 1936. He survives.
She was a retired employee of Decatur's Kroger supermarket and a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Women and Mary Circle groups.
Other survivors include a brother, George Bragg, Ohio City; two sisters, Mrs. Lawrence (Ruby) Hamrick, Willshire, Ohio, and Delight Eichar, Sherwood, Ohio. A brother, Carl Bragg, is deceased.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Mark's United Methodist Church, Revs. Lynn Soughan and Fuhrman Miller officiating. Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery. Mrs. Melinda Corson Dies At Her Home West of Monroe
Mrs. Melinda Good Corson, 71, died at her home, 2 miles west of Monroe at 11:30 o'clock this morning of hemorrhage.
She was born in Adams County, June 16, 1860, the daughter of Jacob and Anna Beery-Good, both deceased. On April 10, 1914 she was united in marriage to John B. Corson, who survives together with two children, Mrs. Albert Dick and Eli Andrew Corson, both of Adams County. Two step-sons, Victor and Ross Corson reside in Valparaiso.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at two o'clock at the Antioch Church, with burial in the Ray Cemetery at Monroe.

MRS. MARTHA COWAN IS TAKEN BY DEATH
Funeral Services Thursday Afternoon
Mrs. Martha D. Cowan, 87, a resident of Wren, O., for the past 18 years, died at 12:55 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the home of her brother-in-law, George W. Dull at Wren. She had been in failing health for two and one-half years.
She was born in Harrison Township, Van Wert county, O., Aug 9, 1868, a daughter of James and Sarah Walters-Dudley.
Mrs. Cowan was a member of the Pleasant View Baptist Church, north of Wren.
Only surviving relatives are nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of a family of nine.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Zwick funeral home, the Rev. O. B. Turner officiating. Burial will be in the Wren cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home until time of the services.

She was born November 1. Among other survivors are a brother, Caleb at home; and grandparents, Francis Bertsch, Bluffton and Walter, Jr. and Joyce Neuenschwander, Ossian.
Services are at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Apostolic Christian Church North, Bluffton. Visiting hours are 4-9 p.m. Wednesday at Goodwin Memorial Chapel, and one hour prior to services. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.

Mildred Minnich, 76, Berne, died Saturday in Adams County Memorial Hospital of an apparent heart attack.
She was born on December 22, 1915 in Wells County to Jesse and Iva Niblick Neuenschwander and married Clarence E. Minnich on Oct. 10, 1936. He died in 1980.
She retired in 1991 from Gerber Brother supermarket in Berne after 15 years, was a member of West Missionary Church.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Van (Connie) Wulliman, Berne; Mrs. Robert (Jaci) Reinecker, Berlingame, California; Mrs. Jon (Norma) Agler, Grand Rapids, Mich.; Mrs. Kim (Kathi) Taylor, Alexandria, Virginia; a son, David Minnich, Lafayette; two sisters, Mrs. Wayne (Jessie) Wilburn, Greenville, Tennessee and Mrs. John (Gladys) Kunkel, Bluffton; a brother, Leon Neuenschwander, Ossian; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in West Missionary Church, with Rev. Don Young officiating. Burial will be in MRE Cemetery in Berne. Dale L. Brandt, Sr., 76, a New Haven resident and former resident of Decatur, died at 5:45 a.m. at Parkview Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne, following an extended illness.
Mr. Brandt was born in Berne. He married Alvina Butler; she died in 1971. He was a truck driver, retiring in 1981 from Kenosha Auto Transport after 33 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Joe (Shirley) Cowans, Rockport, Ind.; five sons, Dale L. Brandt, Jr., Fort Wayne; Keith L. Brandt, Fort Wayne; Richard E. Brandt, New Haven; Jerry R. Brandt, route 3, Decatur; Robert W. Brandt, Decatur; three brothers, Rene Brandt, Largo, Fla.; Jules Brandt, Menefee, California; Marcel Brandt, Santa Fe, New Mexico; a sister, Marceline Brineman, Fort Wayne; a foster brother, Donald Wittwer, Wapakoneta, Ohio; 18 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
A step-mother, Marie Sophie Brandt is deceased as are his foster parents, Hiram and Ruth Wittwer and a foster brother, Wayne Wittwer.
Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Zwick-Sefton & Jahn Funeral Home, Rev. Sylvester Martin officiating. Burial will take place in Decatur Cemetery. Visiting hours are 12-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sunday. Memorials are to the diabetic association or the kidney foundation.

He was the son of Kenneth P. and Virginia Parrish Dellinger; the father is deceased, while the mother lives in Willshire. Other survivors include a daughter, a son, and a brother, Barry L. Dellinger, Rockford, Ohio. A brother, Larry Dellinger, is deceased.

Lawrence F. Fuhrman, 84, New Haven, who was a farmer for many years in southern Allen County, died on Monday in Brighton Hall Nursing Center, New Haven.
His wife Mabel, died on May 6, 1971.
He was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church (Friedheim).
Among survivors are one son and one daughter.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Zion Evangelical Lutheran church (Friedheim), with Rev. Daniel Dahling officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
