MR. GIROD DEAD
Well Known Monroe Township Farmer, Died Today of Heart Trouble
Had Been Living At the Homes of Joe Urick and Joe Graber...Was Subject to Ailment.
While doing some mowing with a scythe this morning at the Joe Ulrich home, two miles south and one mile west of Monroe, Samuel Girod, aged sixty-seven years, dropped dead of heart disease, at 8:30 o'clock, and passed away before medical assistance could be summoned. Mr. Urick (sic) had been making his home for the past fifteen years with the Joe Urick and Joe Graber families, he having been separated from his wife a number of years ago. The deceased had been a victim of heart trouble for over three years and only last week was it necessary for a physician to be called to attend him. When he arose this morning, Mr. Girod was apparently in good health. About 8 o'clock Mr. Urick asked him to get the scythe and do some mowing about the residence. Shortly after Mr. Girod started working, the family heard him fall and in the short time that it took to reach his side, life had become extinct. Mr. Girod was born in Switzerland in 1848 and came to this country with his paren!
ts when but a small boy. Two sons survive the loss of the father.
No funeral arrangements had been made at the time of going to press, pending the arrival of a son.
