Mary M. "Molly" Hill, 86, 105 S. 13th St., died at 2:48 p.m. Sunday in Adams County Memorial Hospital. She was a lifetime resident of Adams County.
She was born on November 14, 1913 in Adams County to William and Ella Smitley Speakman and married Curtis F. Hill on October 27, 1934; he died on October 15, 1981.
She was a homemaker and a custodian at Trinity Evangelical United Brethren Church and at St. Mark's United Methodist Church. She was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist and its Keen-Agers organization and was a member of former chapter 127 of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Surviving are a son, Kenneth E. Hill of Scott, Ohio; a daughter, Carolyn S. Poling of Decatur; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a sister, Edna Sheets, and three brothers: Rolla, Richard, and Roy Speakman.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in St. Mark's United Methodist Church, Decatur, with burial in Decatur Cemetery.
Visiting hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday in Haggard and Sefton Funeral Home, Decatur, and 2-3 p.m. Wednesday in the church.
Preferred memorials are to the church.

Mrs. John Niblick Dies This Morning
Prominent Decatur Woman Dies Today
Mrs. Mary Jane Studabaker Niblick, 86, member of a pioneer Decatur family, and a prominent social and church worker, died this morning at 6 o'clock at the Adams county memorial hospital. Death was attributed to old age.
Mrs. Niblick, widow of the late John Niblick, was born in Decatur on August 6, 1855, the daughter of Judge David and Harriet Evans Studabaker. Her family was among the first settlers in the community.
During her entire life the deceased was an ardent member and worker in the First Methodist church and one of the city's foremost club women. She and her sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Morrison, shared the distinction of being the only two presidents of the Decatur library board. During the first World War, Mrs Niblick served as head of the Adams county chapter of the American Red Cross. In 106 and 1907, she was president of the eighth district of the federation of woman's clubs. She was a member of the local Shakespeare club.
In addition to being an ardent worker of the Decatur WCTU, she was a charter member of the missionary society of the First Methodist church and an organizer of the ladies aid society of the church. She later became a charter member of the women's society of Christian service, which was formed in 1940 by the uniting of the home missionary society, the ladies aid society and the women's foreign missionary society.
She was a graduate of the Glendale Women's college in 1875. On May 18, 1876, she was married to Mr. Niblick. He preceded her in death on May 4, 1930. She was the last member of her family. Three sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. A. D. Suttles of Decatur, Mrs. O. P. Edwards of Leipsic, Ohio, and Mrs. H. H. Stoner of Chicago. Two sons, Jesse D. and Burton S. are deceased. Six grandchildren and four great grandchildren survive.
Funeral Monday
Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the residence, 222 Jefferson street, with Rev. R. W. Graham officiating. Interment will be in the mausoleum at the Decatur cemetery.
The body was taken to the Zwick funeral home. It will be returned to the residence Sunday and may be viewed there after 2 p.m. until time for the services.

Lee E. Parrish, 66, 208, E. Jackson St., Monroe, was fatally injured when he fell from a ladder at his home Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. He died at 9:20 p.m. in Adams County Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Parrish, who retired in 1983 from Central Soya Co., after 38 years of service, was active in the Monroe Volunteer Fire Department, retiring after 30 years of service. He was a veteran on World War II.
Born in Adams County on 8 April 1920, he was the son of J. O. (OZ) and Daisy Gilbert-Parrish. (His mother died when he was one year old and his father later remarried Bessie Andrews) He was married 14 October 1942, to Helen Ray, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Leo A Parrish with the U.S Air Force in Rome, NY., and Merv L. Parrish, Fort Wayne; one sister Helen Mann, Lynn; one brother Lake O. Parrish, Doylestown, PA., eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are pending at Winteregg-Linn and Haggard Funeral Home as the family is awaiting the arrival of the son, Leo from the Air Force.

Harold F. Mumma, 72, Swiss Village, Berne, former Decatur resident and retired teacher, died at 2:10 p.m. Sunday at his residence.
He was a school teacher in Decatur school system from 1936-1945, and later taught here from 1961 to 1978. Mr. Mumma also was a lumber dealer from 1945-1961. A member of St. Mark's United Methodist Chruch, he was a member of Decatur Lodge 571, F&AM Scottish Rite, York Rite, and Mizpah Shrine. He was elevated to 3rd Degree Mason on 26 September 1973.
Born in Decatur on 31 July 1913, he was the son of Roy E. and Blanche M. Jeffers-Mumma. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Herald (Clara Ellen) Hitchkock, Decatur, two nieces, Mrs. Jim (Nancy) Teeter, Decatur, and Mrs. Steve (Marta) Rumschlag, Decatur; and one nephew, Randy Hitchcock, Portage, Michigan.
Services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Wintergreen-Linn & Haggard Funeral Home, Rev. James S HOOK officiating. Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Masonic services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Memorials are to St. Mark's United Methodist Church or Decatur Lodge 571, F&AM.

Rev. Bill Moon will officiate. Burial will be in the Decatur Cemetery, Memorials are to the First United Methodist Church, where she she was a member. She also was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, American Legion Auxiliary, and United Methodist Women's organization.
Born on 10 November 1902, in Adams County, she was the daughter of Lee and Pearl Baker-Reffey, and was married to Adrian J. Baker on 6 August 1929; he died 22 February 1973, Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Marie Brandyberry, Fort Wayne, and Mrs. Harry (Lela) Merriman, Bradley, Ill., and several nieces and nephews. Two sisters are deceased.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. Sunday.

Former Decatur resident dies
Mrs. Kate Shaffer, 55, of 829 Pemberton Drive, Fort Wayne, daughter of Mrs. Nettie Odle of 230 North Seventh St. and sister of three Decatur residents, died unexpectedly at 7:45 p.m. Monday at the St. Joseph's hospital, Fort Wayne. She became ill last Friday night and was hospitalized since that time.
Mrs. Shaffer, a former Decatur resident, was a member of the Trinity English Lutheran Church.
Born in Muncie on Dec. 22, 1917, she was the daughter of Grover and Nettie Reynolds-Odle, and was married to Ford E. Shaffer, who survives.
Also surviving are the mother; one son, Michael L. of Fort Wayne; brothers, Robert, Max and Grover Odle, all of Decatur; and Richard Odle of Fremont; two sisters, Mrs. Eileen Madden and Mrs. Isabelle Fenstamacker, both of Fort Wayne; and one granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the D. O. McComb & Sons funeral home. Burial will be in the Lindenwood cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Wednesday.

MRS. THORNTON DIED LAST NIGHT
Mother of Four Young Children Died After Short Illness
Mrs. Mary Thornton, age 35 years, a resident of Decatur for the last ten years, died at the Adams County Memorial hospital at 8:15 o'clock last night. Death was due to a complication of diseases affecting the bowels and stomach. Mrs. Thornton was taken ill last Sunday and was removed from her home, 1024 West Adams street, to the hospital on Thursday.
Mrs. Thornton was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kelly, and was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, March 6, 1889. She was married to William Thornton sixteen years ago. They moved to Decatur from Bucyrus, Ohio, ten years ago. Mrs. Thornton was a member of the First Methodist church. She is survived by her husband; four children, Berniece, age 15, Ruth, age 13, William, age 10, and Marjorie Louise, age 3; one brother, John Kelly of Pittsburgh; and two sisters, Mrs. Anna Bernham, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Mrs. Wise, of Wheeling, West Virginia.
Funeral services will be held from the residence at 9 o'clock and from the First Methodist church at 2:30 o'clock Monday afternoon, the Rev. U. S. A. Bridge, pastor of the Methodist church, officiating. Burial will be made in the Maplewood cemetery.

Mary L. Williams, 71, route 2, Ohio City, a former employee of Clouse's Grocery, in Willshire, O., died suddenly at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday at Caylor-Nickel Clinic Hospital, Bluffton.
She was a member of the Willshire United Methodist Church, U.M.W., Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 25, and the Friendship Village Homemakers Club.
Born in Willshire on Jan. 12, 1913, she was the daughter of Frank and Kathryn Gause-Detter, and was first married to Herbert Avery; he died April 11, 1970. She married Darrell H. Williams on July 11, 1971, and he survives.
Also surviving are one stepson, Howard C. Williams, Monroe; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Bud (Leona) Goff, Fort Wayne; two sisters, Mrs. Marion (Kathleen) Burke, Fairfield, O.; Mrs. Don (Harriet) Hoblet, Archbold, O.; one brother, Rolland Detter, Dayton, O.; six step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandson.
Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Winteregg-Linn & Haggard Funeral Home, with Rev. David Chivington officiating. Burial will be in the Willshire Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. Order of Eastern Star services will be held at 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Mary Bremerkamp Died Sunday Afternoon at Goshen Home
Funeral On Tuesday
Sister of Mrs. Rice --- Family Moved from Decatur Fifteen Years Ago.
Mrs. Mary Bremerkamp, former Decatur lady, and well know to all of the older residents, died at her home in Goshen Sunday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock, after an illness of more than two year's duration, the news of her death having come to her sister, Mrs. Ben Rice.
Mrs. Bremerkamp and her daughters left here twelve or fifteen years ago for Goshen, and had made their home here since that time. She is survived by the husband, Joseph Bremerkamp, of the Dayton, Ohio soldiers' home; one son, Jame Bremerkamp, of Indianapolis; Mrs. Tom Peterson of Illinois, Edna, Frances and Kate, of Goshen.
Mrs. Rice is the only sister, and Harvey Hart of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Jesse Hart of Pontiac, Mich., are brothers.
Mrs. Bremerkamp was about sixty-seven years old.
Funeral services will be held at Goshen Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock and several Decatur friends and relatives will probably attend the service.

Mrs. Mary Cline Dies In Florida
Mrs Mary Jane Cline, 95, a resident of Adams county most of her life, died at 5 o'clock this morning at the Holy Cross hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. She had been a patient in the hospital since July 14.
Mrs. Cline was a native of Allen county but lived in Adams county most of her life, moving to Florida in 1958. Her husband, the late Jonah J. Cline, served as Adams county assessor for many years.
She was born in Allen county Oct. 6, 1864, a daughter of John R. and Martha Robinson-Shaffer. Her father was a former Allen county commissioner. She was married in 1888 to Jonah J. Cline, who preceded her in death in 1942.
Mrs. Cline, who taught in public schools for a number of years, was a member of the Methodist church.
Surviving are three sons, Clyde, John and Harold Cline, all of Fort Lauderdale.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday at the Zwick funeral home in this city, the Rev. F. Hazen Sparks officiating. Burial will be in the Decatur cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Sunday until time of the services.

DEATH CLAIMS MRS. MANLEY
Mrs. C. O. Manley Dies Thursday Night Of Pneumonia
Mrs. Mae Manley, age 40, wife of C. O. Manley of Blue Creek township and mother of 13 children, died at 10 o'clock Thursday night of pneumonia at the Adams County Memorial hospital.
The deceased was born May 5, 1896 in Wells county, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Simon Julian. In 1915 she married C. O. Manley who survives. She was a member of the Salem Methodist Episcopal church.
Surviving besides the husband are the following children, Mrs. Clifford Roe, Blue Creek township; Mrs. Grover Wolf, St. Mary's township, Edna, Mable, Velma, Louis, Richard, Esther, Gene, Glen, Kenneth, Lester and Marcile at home; brothers and sisters, Mrs. Everett Schwartz, Wells county, Merrit Julian, Fort Wayne and Elmer Julian, Wells county. The deceased mother, Mrs. S. P. Julian of Wells county, also survives.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 1:30 p.m. (C. S. T.) at the home and 2 o'clock at the Salem M. E. church with burial in the Tricker cemetery. Rev. Vernon Riley and Rev. S. E. Smith will have charge of the services.
The body will be removed from the Zwick funeral home to the residence late this evening.

Mary I. Frisinger Peterson, 94, Indianapolis, a native of Decatur, died today in Indianapolis. She was a civic leader there and a former mathematics teacher in Decatur, Fort Wayne, and Indianapolis.
Her husband, J. Dwight Peterson, is deceased. Among survivors are a son and two daughters.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Tabernacle Presbyterian church, Indianapolis, with burial in Decatur Cemetery. Visiting hours will be 9-11 a.m. Thursday in the church.

Mrs. May Strickler dies at hospital
Mrs. May Strickler, 72, wife of Floyd Strickler of Willshire, O., died at 8:45 p.m. Saturday at the Adams county memorial hospital. She had been bedfast for the past seven weeks.
Born in Mercer county, O., Sept. 11, 1894, she was a daughter of Jacob and Sarah Slusser. She was first married to Oscar E. Miller June 10, 1911, and he preceded her in death Aug. 28, 1954. She was married July 7, 1958, to Floyd Strickler, who survives.
Mrs. Strickler was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary at Willshire.
Surviving in addition to her husband are four sons; Paul Miller of Dunkirk, Jay Miller of Celina, O., Robert Miller of Willshire, O.; and Jim Miller of Rockford, O., route 1; five daughters, Mrs. Heber (Inola) Alspaugh, Mrs. Calvin (Margaret) August, and Mrs. David (Louise) Brown, all of Willshire, Mrs. Clair (Mildred) Kelsey of Monroe route 1, and Mrs. Gordon (Eileen) Suman of Decatur route 6; two stepsons, Harold Strickler of Fremont, and Lester Strickler of Willshire; five stepdaughters, Mrs. Irene Hoverman, Mrs. Eugene (Adeline) Lough, and Mrs. Dean (Hazel) McMillen, all of Willshire, Mrs. John (Lois) Funk of Decatur route 6, and Mrs. Carrol (Rosella) Sovine of New Haven; five brothers, Earl Slusser of Jackson, Mich., Alvin and Tony Slusser, both of Celina, O., Leo Slusser of Chattanooga, O., and Ray Slusser of Willshire; 40 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Two sons, William and Hilton, and two sisters and two brothers are deceased.
Funeral rites will be held at 2:30 p.m. (EDT) Tuesday at the Zwick funeral home, with Rev. Russell Snyder officiating. Burial will be in the Willshire cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home until time of the services.

FORMER LOCAL RESIDENT DIES
Mrs. Enos Peoples Dies Monday Night at Brunswick, Mich.
Word was received here today of the death of Mrs. Enos Peoples of Brunswick, Michigan, former resident of this city.
A message was received by Cal E. Peterson that Mrs. Peoples died Monday night. The message did not state the cause of death.
Mrs. Peoples lived here a number of years, her husband being engaged in the livery stable and hotel business. The family moved to Michigan several years ago. She was 65 years old.
Surviving besides the husband and one son are three brothers, Robert and Wes Smith of Pleasant Mills, Will Smith of North Carolina and a sister, Mrs. Fanny Ray of Pleasant Mills.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at Brunswick and the brothers and sisters from Pleasant Mills will attend.

80 son of Dick D. and Martha (Grant) Heller, was born May 22, 1929 in Decatur, Indiana and died March 17, 2010 at John Knox Village Nursing center in Weslaco,Tx.
Dick was raised in Indianapolis, Indiana and attended Greenbriar Military in Lewisburg,West Virginia for 2 years and graduated from Decatur High school in 1947. He attended Indiana University for three and one half years. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and was sent to Ausburg,Germany.
For awhile he worked at the family newspaper in Decatur, Indiana.. He then joined the U.S. Air Force and studied Russian at Syracuse University in New York and was sent to Japan. Due to the death of his father, Dick returned to Decatur after six months, and became publisher of the Decatur Daily Democrat for 29 years.
He is survived by his wife E Jane Drew Heller, whom he married in 1957. Also surviving is their one son; Thomas Heller.
Due to health reasons he and Jane moved to Mission, TX. He was an avid birder. He volunteered at the Santa Ana Wildlife Refuge for 12 years. He was active in local historical societies in Mission. Having served on the Advisory Board at the Mission Library, University of Texas Pan American Library, Vice President of the Frontera Audubon Society, President of the Ornithological Society for two years, Chairman of the Mission Historic Preservation Commission and the Mission Main Street Program, Past President of the Starr County Historical Society and Past Secretary, Vice President and President of the Hidalgo County Historical Society.
Dick was a Life member and former Board member of the Indiana Historical Society and a Life member of the Texas Historical Association. He was a Lions Club member in Mission and Weslaco, TX. Dick was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Weslaco.
A private interment will be held at the Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission,TX at a later date.
