Mrs. Mary Beavers Dies This Morning
Funeral Services Monday Afternoon
Mrs. Mary Beavers, 86, of 509 Adams street, lifelong resident of Decatur and community, died at 8:40 o'clock this morning. She had been in failing health for some time.
She was the widow of Emerson Beavers, former furniture store owner in this city, who died Jan. 3, 1941.
She was born in Washington township June 10, 1868, a daughter of Joshua and Deborah Parrish, and was married to Emerson Beavers Jan. 31, 1897.
Mrs. Beavers was a member of the First Methodist church and the W. S. C. S. of the church.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Ireta Fryback of Decatur; a son, Glen P. Beavers, of Toledo, O.; one brother, John R. Parrish of Decatur; three grandchildren, Mrs Kathleen Paddock of Huntington, and Michael and John Beavers of Toledo, and one great-grandchild, Stephen Paddock of Huntington. Three sisters and two brothers are deceased.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Zwick funeral home and at 2 p.m. at the First Methodist church, the Rev. Virgil W. Sexton officiating. Burial will be in the Decatur cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 o'clock Saturday evening.

Marshall L. Babcock
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday for Marshall L. Babcock, 61, Fort Wayne, a native of Adams County, at the D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, Fort Wayne. Burial was in Highland Park Cemetery.
He died at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Parkview Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Mr. Babcock had retired from Indian Head Truck Lines in 1973 after 40 years of service.
He was married to the former Edna Liechty, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob I. Liechty who lived near Berne.
Survivors include the widow, Edna; two sons, Keith, Fort Wayne, and Leonard, Colorado Springs, Colorado; his mother, Mrs. Clara V. Babcock, Fort Wayne; three brothers, Harry, Fort Wayne; Lester E., Angola; and Melvin F., Alma, Michigan; and two sisters, Mrs. Helen Woodruff, Fort Wayne; and Mrs. Ruth Lee, Wolcottville.

DEATH CLAIMS MARTHA BEERY
Lifelong Resident of Adams County Dies Today At Hospital
Mrs. Martha E. Beery, 80, a lifelong resident of in and near Decatur, died at 8:45 o'clock this morning at the Adams county memorial hospital.
She suffered a stroke Saturday while visiting in this city with her sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Johnston, and was taken to the hospital.
She was born in Adams county September 22, 1860, the daughter of John and Anna Diarman-Burkhead. She was married to Christian Beery, and he died in 1925.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Hansel Kreigh, of Tocsin, with whom she made her home; a son, Fred D. Beery of Monroeville; one brother, Frank Burkhead of Los Angeles, Cal.; three sisters, Mrs. Fred Miller of Los Angeles, Mrs. Elizabeth Johnston of Decatur and Mrs. Mary Burr of Grand Rapids, Mich.; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. (CDT) Thursday at Beery Mennonite church, Rev. Charles Moore of Craigville officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body was taken to the Elzey & Sons' funeral home at Ossian and will be removed to the Kreigh residence in Tocsin this evening.

After being a sufferer for many months from chronic pulmonary tuberculosis, death relived Miss Mary Cordelia Uhrick early this morning at the home of her nephew, James Uhrick at Monroe. Miss Uhrick was born in Indiana in 1841, and was a daughter of of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Uhrick, both the parents having preceded her to the home beyond. She was the only daughter in the family of six children. Her entire life of 73 years, 9 months and 14 days was spent in Monroe and she is numbered among the oldest residents of Adams county. She was prominent in both church and social circles and will be greatly missed among her acquaintances. She leaves five brothers to mourn their loss, they being: Jacob, Samuel, Daniel, Joseph, and John, all residents of Adams county, besides many nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon and will be in charge of Rev. Phillips. Interment will be held in the Ray cemetery.

Alice E. Murphy, 92, Celina, Ohio, an Adams County native and a longtime resident of route 1, Bryant, died at 1:20 a.m. today (Ohio time) in Celina Manor Nursing Home, her residence the past 2 1/2 years.
She was born on September 20, 1898, in Berne to John and Elizabeth Topp Hendricks and married Martin Murphy, who died in 1968.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary Catholic church in Geneva.
Surviving are four daughters: Virginia Homan, Fort Recovery, Ohio; Mildred Minnich, Port Huron, Michigan; Mrs. Carl (Dorothy) Gromeaux, Fort Wayne; and Mrs. Ronald (Patricia) Tricarico, Dayton, Ohio; one sister, Mrs. Doyle (Josephine) Hendricks, Dayton; one sister-in-law, Nolda Hendricks, Berne; 17 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
There will be a prayer service at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in Downing Funeral Home, Geneva, followed by a funeral mass at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Mary Catholic church, with burial in the church cemetery.
There will also be a rosary service at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
Visiting hours at the funeral home are 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Monday and 9-9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Preferred memorials are to her church or the New Corydon Community Club.

WESLEY S. Herman, 73, of Geneva, died Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009, 3:40 a.m., at Parkview Hospital.
He married Colleen Hendricks on Aug. 6, 1955; she survives. He was a member of West Missionary Church. He retired from Habegger Builders with 35 years of service.
Also surviving are son, Duane A. (Annie) Herman of Fort Wayne; daughters, Carol (Marty) Lybarger and Penny (Tim) Myers, both of Geneva; brothers, Leonard Herman of Geneva and Jerry Herman of Greenwood; sisters, Ellen Butcher of Decatur, Maxine Burgess of Geneva and Frieda Stevens of Decatur; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by brothers, James and Richard Herman.
Funeral service is 10 a.m. Friday at West Missionary Church, with calling one hour prior. The Rev. Keith Rupp officiating. Calling also from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home, Berne. Burial in M.R.E. Cemetery. Memorials to West Missionary Church & World Partners

I only know that my grandfather was born in Indiana 1878 and died in Indiana 1940/41
marriage application form states his father as George Rhoads and Margarette nussbaum. This is all I know.

This is one more example of what I have know for years, looking for
ancestors is like looking for life in the universe. Yes there is other
life (genealogical researchers) but you not only have to be in the right
place but in the right time period to make contact.
Thank you for your efforts. Genealogist do not have to have immediate
gratification.
