I am seeking information about the First Cracker Factory of Hartford City,
IN
Or Chambers and Schleiger Cracker Factory where Lewis or Louis Frederick
Schleiger worked as a baker in 1870 according to the 1870 census.
He was born in Preble County Ohio 1843 and married Mary Ellen Moon in Muncie
in 1863.
Thank you
Becky

I am interested in your search for this bible, but especially interested in
the ancestry of your Mary Smith. Our records here in Adams Co., show that
Mary Smith (parentage unknown) married William H. Laisure on 22 March 1863.
We do not show that they had any children. William had been married before
and had 2 children with his first wife, Evaline Todd. Their names were:
Mary Elizabeth and James. Mary Elizabeth is the only one we have further
information on. She married Eugene Girod and David Baumgartner, in that
order. My question is - did the bible pass down through the family of the
first wife? Or did Mary Smith & Laisure have children? I would love to help
you track down your bible and possibly with a little more info from you we
can do it.

Subject: [INADAMS] Smith Family Bible
The SMITH family bible, published in 1834, contains the records of my
g-g-g-grandparents Robert and Sarah Smith. The bible contains the records of
the birth of their children: Rebecca Ann, my g-g-grandfather John H.,
Elisabeth, Sarah Ann, Mary, Robert Endsley, Amy and Jane Smith.
The bible was held by Mary Smith (1826-1910) who married William Henry
Laisure in Adams County in 1868. The bible was passed down the Laisure
family line (Laisure, to Pease, to Martz, to Martz/Billington) and its
last-known location was with Bessie Billington Martz who resided in Fort
Wayne. She was born in 1927 and is possibly deceased. Her daughter Charyl
Diana Martz married Michael Alexander, who advised me several years ago of
the bible's whereabouts, but I have just found that he died in February
2009.
Does anyone know of the whereabouts of the SMITH family bible, or have any
suggestions as to how best to locate it, Charyl Diana Alexander or her
children???
