Last Spanish-American war veteran is dead
Frank S. Peterson, 93, Adams county's last surviving veteran of the Spanish American war, and well known Decatur resident, died at 11:30 o'clock Saturday night at the Adams county Memorial hospital.
Although he had been in failing health for several years, Mr. Peterson was able to participate in the annual Memorial Day services held here May 30 of this year, occupying a place of honor at the speaker's stand.
A lifelong resident of this community, he was born in Adams county April 2, 1876, a son of Sylvester W. and Eliza Jane Blossom-Peterson. He was married to Elizabeth Leyse Oct. 19, 1901. His wife preceded him in death Nov. 18, 1951.
Mr. Peterson served as Decatur town marshal and was subsequently employed as a watchman for the Holland-St. Louis Sugar Co., and custodian of the South Ward school and the Adams county garage.
He was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America and also held membership in the Indiana Athletic Association. He was well known for many years as a baseball and softball umpire in Decatur and area.
Surviving are three sons, Merrill, Wayne and Omar Peterson, all of Decatur; three daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Aurand, Mrs. LaVern (Isabel) Bowman, and Mrs. John (Norma) Rowland, all of Decatur; 18 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. One daughter, Mrs. Hazel Bowman, two infant sons, three brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Gillig-Doan & Sefton funeral home, with the Rev. Sylvester Martin officiating. Military rites will be conducted by Adams Post 43, American Legion, at the Decatur cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home until time of the services.

Pvt. Gilbert Rites Friday Afternoon
War Veteran's Body To Arrive Tonight
The body of Pvt. Gorman A. Gilbert, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Gilbert, of Monroe township, will arrive in Decatur at 8:15 o'clock this evening and will be taken to the Lobenstein funeral home at Monroe until the funeral Friday.
Veterans of Foreign Wars post 6236 and American Legion Adams post 43 will have charge of the services when the body is interred at the Decatur cemetery. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Lobenstein funeral home and 2 o'clock at the Monroe Friends church. The Rev. Russel Person, of Monroe, will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday.
Pallbearers, who were all class mates of Pvt. Gilbert at Monroe high school, and all served in World War II, are Max Winteregg, Lofton Rich, Brice Fisher, Doyt Bryan, Arthur Raudebush and Robert Johnson.
The body had been interred in a United States military cemetery in Europe before it was shipped back to this country aboard the army transport Oglethorpe Victory several weeks ago.
Pvt. Gilbert was killed while serving with the 20th armored infantry in Germany, March 6, 1945. He had been in service eight months, and was 20 years old when he was killed.
In addition to his parents, Pvt. Gilbert is survived by three brothers, Virgil and Eugene, of Monroe, and Ermal, of Decatur route four, and his grandfather, John Allen Haggard, of Decatur.

Eular H. Hill, 89, 1057 Russel St., a retired Adams County farmer, died at 2:10 a.m. today at the Adams County Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient since Sunday. He had been in failing health the last several years.
Born in Benton County, In. on July 9, 1894, he was the son of John and Isie Hunt Hill, and was married March 13, 1920 to Cleo Krick; she died January 12, 1982.
Survivors include four children: Mrs. Eugene (Melba) Maxwell, Fort Wayne, Ms. May Myers, route 1, Decatur, Eugene Hill, route 7, Decatur, Ronald Hill, Decatur; fifteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
One daughter, Crilla, one sister, and one great-grandson preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Zwick, Boltz & Jahn Funeral Home with Rev. John Gillig officiating. Burial will be in the Decatur Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m Friday.

Will Observe Golden Wedding Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Barlett will observe their fiftieth wedding
anniversary on Sunday Dec. 7 with open house and dinner at their home,
eight miles west of Angola. The children of whom there are eight, will
assist their parents in the serving of the dinner, and the reception
will be held from 1 to 4 in the afternoon.
The Barlett's were married at Uniondale by Rev. A.J. Douglas on Dec 6,
1891 and besides the eight children are the grandparents of 15 and the
great grandparents of two children.
Mr. Barlett was brought up in the home of Joseph Lewellen, a farmer
living west of Uniondale; and Mrs Barlett grew up in the home of her
grandmother, Mary Jefferies, who lived north of Fort Recovery, Ohio.

DECATUR, Ind. Aug 23. Sarah Jane White, aged 69, died at the home of her
daughter Mrs. Jacob Bartlett. who lives near Salem, death being due to
old age. Mrs White was born in Piqua,0, Dec. 9, 1849, a daughter of
James and Mary Jefferies. There are no members of her immediate family
surviving. Funeral services were held today at the home. Rev. Mr.
Stephenson of the Bobo M.E. Church officiating. The funeral cortege
left for her old home at Macedonia O. where burial will take place in
the Macedonia cemetery.

Cleo I. Hill, 80, of 1057 Russell St. Died at 5:35 a.m. today at Adams County Memorial Hospital after having been a patient there for nine days.
She was a housewife and was married for 61 years to Eular Hill, who survives. They were married on March 13, 1920. She was born on March 3, 1901 in Union Township to Dennison and Daisy Krick.
Survivors also include two daughters, Mrs. Eugene (Melba) Maxwell of Fort Wayne and Mrs. Harold (May) Myers of Margate, Florida; two sons, Eugene Hill of Rt. 7 and Ronald Hill of 430 Bollman St.; 15 grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. One daughter, Crilla, and one sister preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Zwick-Boltz and Jahn Funeral Home, with Rev. John Gillig officiating. Burial will be in the Decatur Cemetery.
Visiting hours at the funeral home are after 2 p.m. Wednesday until the time of the service. Preferred memorials are to the Heart Fund.

Mary M. Stetler, 92, Convoy, Oho, a native of Adams County, died at 9:22 a.m. Wednesday (Ohio time) in Convoy Care Center.
She was born on September 19, 1902 in Adams County, to Jacob W. and Dessie M. Case Shell and married Earl L. Stetler in 1924. He died on November 12, 1960.
She formerly owned Mary's Frosty Zip Dairy Store in Willshire, Ohio and the Wilshire Creamery. She was a member of and multiple office holder in the American Legion Auxiliary and attended Willshire United Methodist Church.
Surviving is a brother Charles Shell, Convoy. A daughter Donna M. Stetler, died April 26, 1984 and a brother Harry Shell is also deceased.
Funeral services will be at 19 a.m. Saturday (Indiana time) in Haggard and Armes Funeral Home, Decatur, with burial in Willshire Cemetery. Visiting hours are 5 p.m. Friday and 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday (Indiana time). Preferred memorials are to the church.

Carolyn S. Case, 45, 1705 W. Monroe St., died at 9:35 a.m. Tuesday at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, following an extended illness.
A homemaker and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, she was born March 2, 1936, in Decatur, the daughter of Paul F. and Irene McClure Meyer, and was married on October 5, 1956 to Bud E. Case. The mother and the husband survive.
Also surviving are six daughters - Cindy, Lisa, Laura, Nan, Nicole Suzanne, and Krista Michele; and two sons, Tony and Tim, all of whom are at home. One son, Michael preceded her in death, in 1973.
Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Patricia Brown and Mrs. Arthur (Jenny) Heimann both of Decatur and four brothers, Tom Meyer of Decatur, an James, Jack and Mike Meyer all of Fort Wayne.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Father John Gillig officiating, and burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may call at Winteregg-Linn and Haggard funeral Home after 2 p.m. Wednesday. Rosary services are at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. Preferred memorials are to St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Joseph A. Krick, 65, of 429 North Second Street, member of a prominent Decatur family and a former city councilman, died at 11:10 a.m. Friday at Veterans Hospital in Fort Wayne. He had been a patient at the hospital since being transferred from Veterans Hospital in Chicago. Mr. Krick had been in failing health for several months.
He retired from the Decatur General Electric plant on January 1, 1975, after 20 years of service. Prior to joining the GE firm, Mr. Krick and his father, the late Frank Krick, operated Frank Krick Coal company in Decatur until the business closed in the late 1940's.
Mr. Krick graduated from Decatur High School and Michigan State University. While on the Decatur city council, he also served on the board of works.
Mr. Krick was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a life member of the Decatur Elks Lodge, and member of the American Legion post 43 at Decatur. He was a veteran of World War II, and served in China, Burma, and India.
Mr. Krick's grandfather, Henry Krick, was founder of the former Krick-Tyndall Tile Co., in Decatur.
Born February 27, 1910 at Decatur, he was a son of Frank J. and Eva Elzey Krick, and was united in marriage on March 21, 1942 to Vivian Lynch, who survives. Other survivors include one daughter, Miss Linda Krick of Fort Wayne; one sister, Mrs. Louis (Pauline) Hyde of Lakehurst, N.J.; two brothers, Robert H. of Decatur, and Frank J. (Jim) of Fort Wayne.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Zwick Funeral Home, with Rev. Harold Leininger officiating. Burial will be in the Decatur Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. Sunday, and the family will receive friends there from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
Preferred memorials are to the First United Methodist Church and St. Mark's United Methodist Church memorial funds, or to the Cancer Society.

Services for Mary Case Lopshire, 46, Monroeville, who was killed Tuesday evening in a car-semi accident in Van Wert County, Ohio, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Marquart & Jacobs Funeral Home, Monroeville, with calling there from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm. Friday.
A native of Ohio City, Ohio, she lived in Monroeville 22 years. She was a leading operator at General Electric Co. in Fort Wayne for 23 years. Survivors include her husband, James F., one step-daughter, Jeanette Sullivan, Grabill; one brother, Eugene Case, Ohio City; and two sisters, Lois Jones, Ohio City, and Colleen Fisher, Van Wert.

Harold P. Schumm, 66, of near Rockford, Ohio, died at 12:10 a.m. Monday in St Rita's Hospital, Lima, Ohio. He had been in ill health since December 5 with cancer.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Schumm, a veteran of World War II, and a member of the American Legion in Rockford.
His wife, the former Leahline Case, died in 1981. Survivors include two sons, Jim, of near Rockford, and John, at home; a daughter, Kay Schumm, at home; one sister, Hildred Schumm, route 1, Willshire; and three grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in Zion Lutheran Church, Schumm. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today and one hour prior to services at the church Thursday. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorials are to the Wren EMS and the Visiting Nurses Association of Van Wert.

Glenn White dies after long illness
Glenn W. White, 71, died at 10:50 a.m. Saturday at his home in Blue Creek Township, two miles west and one and one-half miles south of Willshire. He had been in failing health for the past two years.
Born in Mercer County, Ohio, November 1, 1898, he was a son of William E. and Martha Davis White, and was married to Glendola Case, March 19, 1925.
Mr. White was a retired farmer and former employee of the Central Soya Co.
Surviving are his wife; one son, William, Jr. White of Decatur, route 6; one daughter, Mrs. Merdith (Dorothy) Putman of Pompano Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Duke of Williamsburg, and Mrs. Martha Dott Morrison of Pleasant Mills; and eleven grandchildren. Four brothers and three sisters are deceased.
Funeral rites will be held at 130 p.m. Tuesday at the Zwick Funeral Home, with Rev. Ralph Gallagher officiating. Burial will be in the Tricker Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home until time of the services.

Clarence F. Drake Dies Last Evening
Clarence F. Drake, 71, of 636 North Seventh Street, a retired G. E. employee, was pronounced dead on arrival at 8:05 p.m. Sunday at the Adams County Memorial Hospital. Death was attributed to a coronary and was unexpected.
He was born in Mercer County, Ohio, April 27, 1894, a son of William and Lunetta Krick Drake, and was married to Gladys Gephart, January 23, 1915.
Mr. Drake was a member of the Union Chapel Evangelical United Brethren Church and the 39's Club. He was employed for many years at the Decatur plant of the General Electric Co. until his retirement.
Surviving are his wife; three sons, Robert E. Drake of Decatur, Clarence F. Drake, Jr., of Van Wert, Ohio, and Ronald E. Drake of Bryan Ohio; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and three sister, Mrs. Mary Mumma of Spencer, Mrs. Harry (Louis) Jackson of Fort Wayne, and Mrs. Basil (Lola) Gephart of Decatur, route 5. One son and one daughter are deceased.

Mrs. Mary H. Krick, 72, wife of George M. Krick, 323 Line Street, died at 7:10 o'clock Sunday morning at the Castle Convalescent Home at Van Wert, Ohio. She had been in ill health for several years and was removed to Van Wert six weeks ago.
She was born in Decatur October 18, 1875, a daughter of John and Mary Kleinhenz, and was a life-long resident of this city. She was a member of the St Mary's Catholic Church and the St Mary's Society.
Surviving in addition to her husband are one son, Arthur William Krick of Hamilton, Ohio; one grandson David Allen Krick; a sister, Miss Rose Kleinhenz, and a brother, Arthur Kleinhenz, both of Decatur. Two children preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Mary's Catholic Church, with the Very Rev. Msgr. J. J. Seimetz officiating. Burial will be in the Catholic Cemetery. The body was removed to the Gillig & Doan Funeral Home, where friends may call after 7 o'clock this evening. The St. Mary's Society will recite the rosary at the funeral home after church services Tuesday evening.

FORMER MAYOR DIES THURSDAY
Former Decatur Mayor George M. Krick, 85, died at 4:45 p.m. Thursday in St. Rita's Hospital, Lima, Ohio, following an illness of three days. He had lived in Lima, Ohio, since his retirement in 1949.
The former Decatur mayor was born February 16, 1879 in Decatur, the son of Henry and Sarah Mangold Krick. His father was in the brick and tile business, and he worked with him, eventually becoming president of the Krick-Tyndall Tile Co. in the 1920's.
Long Time Mayor
He was married to the former Mary Kleinhenz on June 26, 1906 by the Rev. H. Theodore Wilkin. He served as a Democrat on the Decatur City council from 1922-1925, and in the latter year defeated Avon Burk for mayor, 1,261 to 1,160. He was reelected in 1929 over Burk, 1,325 to 1,037. The legislature gave him an extra year in 1924, and he served nine years as mayor, longer than any other Decatur mayor. Ed Miller was his chief of police, and Jack Friedt his fire chief. Catherine Kauffman and Mrs. Alice Christen served as clerk, and city councilmen during the eight-year period included Fred Linn, Joseph Hunter, O. L. Vance, A.R. Ashbaucher, George Appleman and Herman Gillig. His treasurers were Luella M. Magley and Mrs. Ada Martin.
Retired in 1949
His wife, Mary, died in 1948, and he retired to Lima, Ohio in 1949. They lived at 323 Line Street in Decatur. He is a former member of the Decatur Rotary Club, and was a member of the St Rose Catholic Church and Holy Name Society at Lima, Ohio, and the Elk's Lodge of Decatur.
Mr. Krick was recovering from a minor surgery, and was in the best of spirits, when he suddenly lapsed into a coma Tuesday and was taken immediately to St. Rita's Hospital. He was living with his son and family until his injury.
Survivors include his brother, Virgil (Pete) Krick, of Decatur; two sisters, Miss Agnes Krick of Detroit, Mich., and Mrs. Dallas Butler, of Fort Wayne; one son, Arthur William, of Lima, Oho, and two grandchildren. One brother Walter Krick, former Decatur school superintendent, preceded him in death.
Services Here Monday
Friends may call at the Cantwell-Sweet Mortuary in Lima, Ohio, after 8 p.m. Saturday, and until 10 p.m. Sunday.
Funeral services will be held at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Decatur at 10 a.m. Monday the Rt Rev Msgr. Simeon Schmitt officiating. Burial will be in St Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.

Daimon Case, 55, farmer residing on Willshire, Ohio, route 1, and a former resident of Decatur, died at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Van Wert County Hospital, where he underwent surgery nine days ago.
He was born in Mercer County, Ohio, March 16, 1912, a son of Earl and Hilda Branstetter Case, and was married to May Suman May 1, 1936. His wife preceded him in death February 19, 1964.
Mr. Case lived in Decatur for a number of years until moving to Willshire in 19600. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge at Rockford, Ohio.
Surviving are four brothers, Cleo Case of Loveland, Ohio, Voyd Case of Ohio City, Ohio, Joyce Case of Van Wert, Ohio, and Luther Case, with whom the deceased made his home; four sisters, Mrs. Glendola White of Monroe, route 1, Mrs. Ivan Douglas of Quincy, Mi., Mrs. Roma Fickert of Rockford, Ohio, route 1, and Mrs. Harold Schumm of Rockford, route 2. One daughter is deceased.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Ketcham-Ripley funeral Home at Rockford, with Rev. Paul Parker officiating. Burial will be in the Decatur Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 10:30 a.m. Friday until time of the service.

Google Ad Sense is when a web site owner opens an account with Google to place advertisement on their web site. When a person clicks this advertisement, the web site owner gets an average commission of .45 cents. A web site that gets a lot of traffic, they can easily make $150,000 per month.
There are message boards claiming to be informing the public about scams being done by companies or individuals. These web sites have individuals working for them for the sole purpose of targeting companies or individuals in order to generate traffic to the web site. This method is artificially generating traffic to the web site, this is FRAUD as outlined by Google. The higher the traffic, the higher the percentage of individuals that will click onto the Google advertisements.
Additionally, Individuals post copy right information about a company on these types of web sites; this is against the policy of the Google Ad Sense program.
If you believe that you are being targeted by individuals on a particular web site; simply click the Ads by Google in the bottom right hand corner of the advertisement on the web site. You will be taken to a Google page, click onto: Report a policy violation regarding the site or ads you just saw

Mrs. Myrtle Murray Dies In California
Former Local Lady Is Taken By Death
Mrs. Myrtle Murray, 74, former resident of Decatur, died Tuesday morning at a hospital in San Diego, Calif., relatives here were advised today. Death followed a stroke which she suffered a week ago at her home in that city.
Mrs. Murray was born in St. Mary's township, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Roop. She was married to Ed Murry, who died several years ago. Mr. Murray operated a mill in this city. The family left Decatur about 20 years ago.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Ted Sowers of Warren, O.; four sons, Robert and Richard Murray, both employed at the Consolidated Aircraft factory in San Diego; Harry, civilian employe at Baer Field, Fort Wayne, and Lawrence Murray of Warren, Ohio; one sister, Mrs. Hild Murray of Decatur and two brothers, Richard Roop of Decatur and Charles Roop of Hammond. Funeral services and burial will be held at San Diego Friday afternoon.

LOUIS DOLCH DIES TODAY
Decatur Resident Dies This Afternoon After Long Illness
Louis E. Dolch, 56, contractor and builder, died at his home, 642 Mercer Avenue, at 12:15 o'clock this afternoon, following an extended illness. Death was due to complications. Mr. Dolch had been ailing for several months but had not been bedfast until the last five weeks.
Mr. Dolch resided in Adams County and Decatur for a number of years. He was born near Tiffin, Ohio, June 26, 1878, a son of Jacob and Catherine Dolch, deceased. His marriage to Dessie Krick of this city took place August 25, 1908.
Mr. Dolch resided in Adams County for about 30 years. Three years ago he moved with his family to this city from Toledo, Ohio, where they had resided for the last 23 years. He was a member of the United Brethren Church in Toledo.
Surviving besides the widow, are two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Dolch, English teacher in the Holland, Ohio schools and Miss Virginia Dolch of this city. Two brothers, Jacob of Blue Creek Township and Henry of near Portland, and a sister Mary of Monroe, also survive.
Private funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home, 642 Mercer Avenue, with Rev. H. R. Carson, pastor of the local Methodist Episcopal church officiating.
The body will be removed to the home Tuesday afternoon from the S. E. Black Funeral Home, and friends may view it after 7 o'clock Tuesday night.
