Subject: [INADAMS] misc obituaries: STAUFFER, FIELDS, WHEELER, WOODRUFF
Hello:
On a recent road trip, I stopped by the little library in Geneva, Adams Co., IN. looking for a few obituaries. The ones I copied had other obituaries on the same page, so if anyone on the list wants the following obits I'll be happy to scan them for you:
John WHEELER, 10-21-1816 to Oct 1921 Robert WOODRUFF, June 1919 to Sept. 1921
David FIELDS, Oct. 1861 to Jan 1921 Anna STAUFFER, 1824-Feb. 1908
Also, is anyone familiar with the family of Jacob and Sarah (Brant) Field, b. about 1817 and 1823 respectively, both in Ohio. They raised their children in Wells Co., IN. I suspect that Sarah is related to an ancestor but need more information about her parents.
Thank you!
Louise

I would love a copy of the Anna Stauffer obit, if you don't mind. My Stauffer line still lives in the Allen County, IN area and I have quite a bit of their history, if there is something I can help you with.

Just a clarification - Adam Mason's marriage to Mary Ruble was listed twice, 1864 & 1884. The 1864 marriage is the correct one, the 1884 marriage is a typo and I forgot to delete it before I posted. They were only married to each other once in 1864. Sorry for the mix-up.........Karen

Hi Don,
Sorry to bother you again. A FYI, I found the death certificate for Josephine in Wichita Falls, TX. The last name was spelled incorrectly which is why I did not find it before when I looked.
She died of influenza and bronchopneumonia, so my guess was wrong.
Anyway, mystery solved and put to rest.
Thanks again for your help.

Thanks Don,
I looked in Riverside where the rest of the family were buried and missed it. That is why I love another set of eyes.
Otis was not buried there, I was sure of that; he remarried and was buried in Los Angeles, CA. I found him on the California Death Index as well as the Veterans burial records. So, he wasn't the mystery.
I did eventually find Josephine's death, or thought I had. The Riverside record confirmed it for me. She died in Wichita, TX. I had found Otis in Texas in 1930, so this made sense. Then the burial record pretty well confirmed it for me.
I hope I can at some point find an obituary for her. I am looking for that now. I am wondering if she died in childbirth given the marriage date of 14 Feb 1918 and death date of 03 Feb 1920. But, for now, that is just a theory.
Again, thanks for the help and if I can ever help you, please let me know.
Jan

Jan. Took a bit of doing but found the resting place of Josephine. She is buried in the Riverside Cemetery, which is on state road 116, about 1 mile east of Geneva in Wabash towhship, Adams county. The stone reads Otis G Windsor, 1890 - 19 (which probably means he was not buried there) and Josephine Windsor, his wife, 1893 - 1920. Don
