MYERS FUNERAL HELD YESTERDAY
Several Decatur People Attend Funeral Of William H. Myers
Several Decatur people attended the funeral services held in Fort Wayne for William H. Myers, Civil War veteran, formerly of this city. Mr. Myers died Friday and his funeral was held Sunday afternoon. His remains were shipped to Bowling Green, O., for interment in a mausoleum at the Bowling Green cemetery.
Mr. Myers lived in this city for many years. He was a prominent member of the local post of the Grand Army of the Republic and for many years was its commander. Until two years ago Mr. and Mrs. Myers lived on Adams street in Decatur. Recently they moved to Fort Wayne where Mr. Myers died.
Death was due to hardening of the arteries, and infirmities of old age. He was an officer in the Civil War and served the entire war period. Mr. Myers was one of the youngest men to enlist for service. He was born in Ohio and at the time of his death was seventy-eight years of age.
Mr. Myers had been in failing health for some time, but recently he rallied and death was not expected at the time. Mr. Myers was also prominent in all public affairs while a resident of this city, having made hundreds of friends. Mrs. Ida Myers, his wife, survives.

I'm trying to make a scrapbook from an old photo album of my granmother Effie(Carpenter ) Raver. She has a calling card from Emily Mumma, pictures belonging to her mother Mary ann (Bowers) Carpenter, a photo of the Welty family farm, Bechtel farm, and various Carpenter/Raver/Welty/Mumma/May etc. photos. Some photos have names I don't recoginize (probably family friends) and some photos have no names.
I live in SE Michigan and know a few family stories about life around Adams county IN. I know there was a family sugar beet plantation, my grandfather Abraham Raver had a general store for a time and also drove a huckster wagon around to the Amish families (he spoke German), there were loggers in the family, my great grandfather George Raver fought in the Civil War, and his son Christian was quite a character.
My dad (Raymond Raver) was quite close to his May cousins from Decutar while he was growing up.
I would be interested in hearing from relatives who could fill in some of this information of my family history.
Thanks !
