Greetings to all.
This has surely been a good idea, Tim. In fact, it has been such a good idea
that we have all been swamped with a steady stream of correspondence all
year! As it happened, I didn't check my email this year until about Jan. 3;
by then I had accumulated 60 or 70 messages related to the title topic. I
had hoped to get to a stopping place in reading my mail before responding to
Tim's request myself, but that doesn't appear likely anytime soon. So here
goes.
I was born and raised in Decatur, IN. After I left for college in 1955, I
was only home summers and vacations. In 1965 I moved for a few years to OK,
where I met my wife, Pat, and fathered two children. We have lived in
Columbus, OH, since 1969.
My father Ernest (aka "Beany") was half of the Uhrick Bros. retail
hardware/appliance/furniture team in Decatur. He retired in 1970 and my
parents moved away--first to northern IN and later to Florida; they are both
now deceased.
I am related to at least two members of this group: Joey Pedigo of OK is a
cousin on my maternal side and Rachel Benson of MN is a cousin on my paternal
side. In each case, we are on different generation levels.
My surnames of interest include Uhrick/Uhrich (of course), Nelson, Essex and
Diehl from Adams Co. and Martin and Bendure from other states.
Thanks again to Tim for promoting increased interest now in comparing
genealogical notes.

David,
If you send me your home email address I will email the NEPTUNE information to you there or will mail it to your snail address. Let me know for sure which way.
I just thought it is to much information to post to the Adams Co. List.
Linda Ead
David,
Please send me your email address. I have several pages on Neptune for you and I think it is to much to put on the list.

Margie,
I have Cavern born: 25 June 1966 Decatur, Adams Co. IN.
died: March 1931 Palo Alto, California.
OBITUARY
In Decatur Daily Democratic on March 30, 1931
FORMER LOCAL DENTIST DIES IN CALIFORNIA
Word has been received here of the death of Dr. C. E. Neptune, 65, former Decatur resident, who died at his home in Palo Alto, California Friday night. The cause of death has not been learned.
Dr. Neptune lived in Decatur for many years and was engaged as a dentist, moving to California twenty years ago, where he had retired.
Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Hattie Neptune of Palo Alto, California; a son Kenneth Neptune of Fort Wayne; two sisters Mrs. C. G. Denman of Toledo, Ohio, and Mrs. Marry Braddock of Page, Nebraska; a nephew Dr. J. G. Neptune of this City.
I did not get the exact date of death as I had written to the library in Decatur and they sent me the obit. I need to check this out and get the day in the month of March he died.
I don't have any information on Hattie the wife listed as his widow.
Hope this helps some.

>Juliann Heath was the 2nd wife of my ancestor Samuel Sackett. According to
the census records she was born c 1810 in OH. She married Samuel
3/28/1837.
This was shortly after he arrived in Adams co.,IN w/ his 1st wife & 6
children. His first wife was Isabella Moore & obviously the move from
Greene Co.,OH was too much for her. Samuel & Juliann had 13 children
giving
ole Sam a grand total of 19 children!
I know that there was a William Heath in Mercer Co.,OH just across the
state
line from 1820-1830. He's listed next to my ancestor William Major.
William Major's son James married Mary Sackett, the daughter of the above
mentioned Samuel Sackett. Clear as mud, right?! Cindy

You mentioned Rumple in your list of surnames in Adams Co...
Have we spoke before? My great grandmother was Ella Ann Rumple, her father
was William T. Rumple and his father Daniel Rumple, mostly in the Ohio area
but I know some of the line went to Indiana. Who is your Rumple line?
Karin King
Richard, I see quite a few familiar surnames on your web page. I'm going to

Hello everyone;
I am Richard (Rick) Beitler, and I currently live in Springfield, Missouri. The ties that I have to Adams County are that both my father and mother came from Adams County. My mother was a Liechty, from Berne, and my father was from Monroe. I still have a large number of family living in Adams County, so we visit there about every other year.
Family names I am always on the look for on my fathers side are: Beitler, Ray, Watkins. For my mothers side they would be: Liechty, McCune, Bixler.
I have my genealogy file on the internet at two separate sites. You can find me at
http://www.my-ged.com/beitler
and I also have the exact same database posted at the World Connect Project of RootsWeb.com at
http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=rabone
Take a peek, see if we have common roots.

Faith,
Mary Troutner is very possibly Mary Margaret Roop (1825-1913), w/o George W.
Troutner, both residing in Willshire Twp, Van Wert Co for many years.
Neither Mary or George are direct kin to John Minor Smith, but there are
lots of Smith connections in both families. Elizabeth is a little harder.
She might be Elizabeth Chase (b. c1837), w/o Peter Troutner, but I don't
know much about Peter and Elizabeth. I have two John Myers in my files, but
I don't know how they connect to any of the people you are asking about.
Do you have any dates/places for Jemima (Reed) Smith? Do you know who her
parents were? I have a great grandfather who was a Reed and tracing his
family has been a real pain!
Sure hopes this helps.
