of them is a large group photo of the wedding of Lewis H. Worthman and

Indiana. The other is of the William Hilgeman family, also taken in Decatur,
or at least the photography studio is in Decatur. On the back are the names
of the members, including (Emma who married Lewis Worthman and a list of
4 children, Cordelia, Ruth, Mary and Helen, (Lyda who married Jake Bloemker
and had daughter Emma, (John 5 listed daughters Emma, Lucille, Margaret,
Eleanor, and Magdeline, (Anna who married Fred Peters listed children Elmer,
Elma and Selma, (Martin son Walter, (Ida who married John Peters and (Martha
who married Ruppert listed children Paul, Esther and Homer.
If you are interested please contact me. There are many more photos of
these 2 families at this shop. I paid $14.00 for these 2 and if you want
the rest I'll be glad to collect them for you if you pay for them.
In case you're wondering, my new hobby is to reunite descendants with identified
photos that I find in antique shops.
Silly me,

Surname: Runyon
-------------------------
RUNYON Family
1. John Runyon, III and Mary Price. He was born in 1794 in Rockingham County,
Virginia. He married his schoolmate, who was born in England in 1799. They
came to Hartford Township, Adams County, Indiana in October, 1841 from
Champaign County, Ohio. They entered 80 acres of land near the Wabash river.
At this time (1841) the woods were full of deer, and the Runyons developed
a race of strong, sturdy men, fond of hunting. A few incidents might be
mentioned.
At one time Grandfather Runyon and his family went out in their canoe,
fire-hunting for deer. They spent the night, got home near morning, and
lay down to rest. They overslept, and did not waken until near sundown.
Grandmother Runyon was the first to arise. She saw the sun, and called
the others, saying in her excitement,Get up, John. Quick. The world is
coming to an end: the sun is rising in the west!
Some of the boys decided they could hold a deer. Their father allowed
one of them to try an experiment. The canoe was allowed to drift silently
to the side of the deer. The young man caught the deer. Next he found hiumself
in the water and the deer gone!
Another time, one of the tried to hold a wounded deer: he came out second
best!
In fire-hunting, a light is placed in the prow of the boat, with a screen
back of it. The deer can see the fire, not the hunter. They approach to
examine the light on account of their curiosity, and become a mark for
hunters......By Melissa French Hall
