Does anyone know about land grants which were bought in Adams Co, IN? I
found on http:www.glorecords.blm.blm/ a land grant for a David HIlty issued
on August 20, 1838. The legal discription is as follows Aliguot Parts NW
Sec/Blk 7/ Twhship 25 N Range 14-E Fract Sect No Meridan 2nd PM State IN
County Adams. The amount of lant was for 177.6 acres. Does anyone know
about this? I am researching the Hilty name. I believe the land was around
Berne, IN. , but I am not sure and I do not have this David on my index.

Hello-
I recently came across a large batch of state/area maps from the 60s & 70s.
Most are the "Gas Station Highway variety" . As nice as the availability of
maps on the internet is, I still prefer to look at a good old-fashioned
paper map of the area i'm researching.
So, anyone who wants some good old paper maps, all I ask is that you
send sufficient postage & adequate sized return envelope to mail it back to
you. Please send the return envelope addressed to you also, so that I don't
have to do it.
Here are the areas I have (if you don't see one you're looking
for, sorry):
Florida
Wyoming
Quebec
Wisconsin
Iowa
Illinois
Washington
Alaska
Montana
Algoma Twp, Thessalon, Sault Ste. Marie, Canada
Canada & Northern US Hwy map
Eastern US Hwy map
Kentucky/Tennessee
Chicago, IL
Kentucky/Tennessee/Missouri
Alabama/Kentucky/Tennessee
Superior Nat'l Forest, Minnesota
I have more than one of most of these, so drop me a line if you want on.
Sincerely, Chris
Does anyone know who the parents of Mary Catherine TYNDALL were?
She was born 24 Sept 1859 in Indiana, and married 24 March 1881, James Anner
SIMS.
Mary and James had 8 children, born between 1882 and 1902. Most were born in
Adams Co, IN, though I have one listed as being born in Van Wert Co, OH. The
family later moved to Mason Co, MI, where both Mary and James died.
Thanks in advance,
Jane Nelson

Surname: persho, johnson
-------------------------
My great grandfather Christofer Johnson of Adams County married Mary Persho.
The Persho that I am trying to find is
William, born in 1818 In New Hampshire. His wife Elmira was born in 1822
in OHio. I got this information from an 1860
census taken in Black Creek Township in Mercer county Ohio.
Their children's names were Almira, Aldine,Mary, Delilah, William and Alvira.
Later they had James & Emma. I found that on the 1880 census. The Persho's
moved to Van Wert County Ohio and were very prominent there. I found several
things in the Van Wert county history book in the library there. Both the
Mercer county library and the Van Wert county libraries are very accommodating
to searchers.

I used to know a son of Henry A. Tindall of Adams Co., IN and Van Wert
Co., OH. Don't remember his name. However, the Tindalls were not my line--I
was helping several others research the name, including my first cousin,
once removed, Dan Tyndall. Have you contacted Mrs. Earl (Eileen) Dawson,
221 S. 1st St, Decatur, IN 46733? Tel. (219) 724-2064. I haven't been in
contact for 25 years or so, so don't know if she has e-mail. I don't think
she's been active in genealogy for some time, but she might be able to
tell you who's working on the line now.

Hi Tim,
My name is Rich Schwantz, and I am an administrator and teacher
at Wyneken Lutheran School. I am also a member of St. Paul Lutheran, and
I have just started publishing our website. I also have a great interest
in genealogy, and have published a page specifically for folks
researching their St. Paul ancestors. It is a cemetery listing, as well
as a history of St. Paul (founded 1873, a sister congregation of
Zion-Friedheim in Decatur). Here are URLs you may want to add to your
Adams Co. Rootsweb site:
graveyard: http://www.splutheran.org/cemetery/cemetery.htm
history: http://www.splutheran.org/history/history.htm
We hope that these sites will be helpful to any researchers.
Please e-mail if you have any further questions or comments. Thanks!
Rich Schwantz
