Hello everyone,
Here are the names I am researching in Adams and Grant Cos.:
HOOPER, Ezekiel m. Cornelia SWASEY (SWAYZE) and Almira Gorsline BOBO
SWAYZE, Amos m. Henrietta CHRISFIELD
POWELL, Joel F. m. Henrietta HOOPER
HOOPER, Mary Ann (Henrietta's twin) m. George AMES
HOOPER, Jacob
HOOPER, Rachael Ann m. Dennis B. CLARY
HOOPER, David
HOOPER, Emeline m. William BOTTENBERG
HOOPER, Paul Granville m. Charity E. HARROD
The HOOPERs were an early pioneer family at Monmouth Twp. in Adams Co. IN, but
their history and memory were lost to my family who migrated to Washington
Territory in the 1870's. At a young age I became interested in family
stories,
and therefore I inherited my g.g.grandparents Joel and Henrietta POWELL's
Family Bible. Little was known about my g.g.grandmother Henrietta Hooper
POWELL
because she died when her family was still relatively young and did not come
west with them. It was recorded in the Bible that Joel and Henrietta were
married at Marion, Grant Co., IN. One of Joel and Henrietta's sons was named
Ezekiel Hooper POWELL. For a number of years I have searched the INGenWeb
sites
looking for an Ezekiel HOOPER as the possible father of Henrietta. One day in
a matter of seconds I found Ezekiel HOOPER in the Monmouth Cemetery along with
another surprise - a Mary Ann Hooper AMES who was born on the same day as
Henrietta - TWINS!
I contacted the database submitter for the cemetery which was non other than
our own list member Nola RAINS. Within a month or so, this line fell into
place all the way back to Henry II of England. What a great windfall to find
g.g.g.grandfather Ezekiel HOOPER in the Monmouth Cemetery database. All
thanks
go to Nola for her steadfast work on behalf of the genealogy community.
That was my exciting find for the year!
Best wishes for the new year.
