FINED $10 AND COSTS
Everett Hoy Pleaded Guilty to Keeping His Boys Out of School
Everett Hoy, a school patron of the Greenwood School in Jackson Township,
was arrested Saturday by Sheriff Moore on a charge of keeping his two boys,
Orval and Delmar, out of school to work. When arraigned before Juvenile
Judge Will Vaster, he plead guilty and was fined $10 and cost. The total
amount was $16.80. The records show that Orval was out of school fourteen
days the first month while Delmar was out twelve days.
No pupil under 16 years old may be kept out of school for work unless he has
graduated, is over 14, and has also a working permit from the county
superintendent.
Hoy intimated that he thought seriously of "cleaning out" the courthouse
after the fine had been assessed, but he evidently thought better of the
proposition.
