Lawrence (Bedford, Indiana) Mail, February 4, 1886, p. 1.
HYMENEAL-L. A. Hampton and Miss Clara Yandell were united in the holy bonds
of wedlock on January 17, 1886, at the residence of the groom's parents near
Leon, Butler County, Kansas, Rev. Burris officiating.
Miss Yandell formerly resided at Huron in this county and last school year
taught at Springville. Last summer she went to Kansas and has been engaged
in teaching there since, but her charms have succumbed to the inevitable.
"Toss," as she was familiarly addressed, was kind and generous in her
nature, frank and sociable in her conversation, an earnest student and a
lady esteemed by her classmates and all whom she met. Mr. H. is a relative
of Hon. Wade Hampton of South Carolina and is a very intelligent young man
and has good prospects for a very successful career. Our best wishes go
with them.
