I am looking for information on James Clark and John
Clark who are both
found in the 1820 Clark County Indiana Census, and are
living in
Jeffersonville Township. I believe one of these two men
could be the
father of my third great-grandfather, Presley Clark, who
first appears in
the 1830 Clark County Indiana Census, and is living in
Jeffersonville
Township. Presley next appears in the 1840 Jackson
County, Indiana Census,
living in Redding Township where he remains until 1870.
After 1870 I can't
find him any more. I believe he passed away between
1870 and 1880.
Presley was born in 1802, 1803, or 1804, either in
Indiana, Kentucky, or
Ohio. Part of me says he may have been born in
Virginia. In 1820 Presley
would have been either 16, 17, or 18 years old.
I am also looking for information on a Frederich
Hendoliter who was living
in Jeffersonville Township in Clark County, Indiana, in
1820. In 1830 he
is living in Jackson County, Indiana, in Driftwood
Township. In 1830 his
name is spelled Fredrick Hnderliter. There is a strong
possibility that he
could be the father of Presley Clark's first wife,
Caroline Hendelider.
Presley and Caroline were married in Floyd County,
Indiana, on May 28,
1823.
I am also looking for information on a Jonathan Clark
who might be a
brother of Presley Clark. Jonathan appears in the 1830
Clark County
Indiana Census living in Jeffersonville Township.
I am also looking for information on an Elizabeth Clark
who might be
Presley's mother. She also appears in the 1830 Clark
County Indiana Census
living in Jeffersonville Township.
Any information that someone might have on these
individuals would be
greatly appreciated. Please feel free to e-mail me
privately, or call me.
