Obituary
Bloomington – Ronald J. Kern, 68, of Bloomington, passed away Saturday, February 4,
2017 at his residence. Ron was born July 18, 1948, in Bloomington, the son of Walter and
Margaret Kern. He married Carolyn Purdy on June 27, 1975. She survives. Also surviving are
a brother, Walter Kern of NJ; a sister, Kay (Al) Mahoney of AZ; several nieces and
nephews; and his dog, Tigger. He was preceded in death by his parents. Ron served in the
United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He was an avid Chicago Bear's fan. He also
loved playing the guitar. He was an adamant animal lover. Cremation has been accorded, a
memorial service will be...
