Barton County (KS) Democrat, March 13, 1908, p. 2.
After an illness of several days duration, Elijah Robertson died at the home
of his son, E. K. Roberson, in this city at one o'clock last Saturday.
Deceased was born in Crawford Co., Ind., Feb. 19, 1842, and resided in that
county until four years ago when he took up his residence in this county.
He had followed the work of a farmer and mill man all his life, and since
coming to this county operated a threshing rig. He was twice married, both
wives having preceded him unto the other world. He was quiet, Christian
gentleman, affiliating with the Universal Church in his lifetime. He leaves
surviving him the following, E. K. Roberson, son, and Mrs. Fanne Dicus
(difficult to read), a daughter, both residents of this city, Abram
Roberson, son, of English, Ind., and Mrs. Ella Hunt, daughter, of
Louisville, Ky.
A short funeral service was to be held at the home of his son, E. K.
Roberson at 8:30 Sunday morning, and the body taken to English, Ind., where
it will be laid to rest beside his former wives. Mr. Roberson was a man who
was always quiet and reserved but to know him was to respect him, and he
leaves a large number of friends who united in extending to the bereaved
ones their sincere sympathy.
