Maysville (KY) Evening Bulletin, September 7, 1892, p. 4.
English, Ind., Sept. 7-Ivy Dooley, merchant, while out hunting, was wounded
in his right thigh from the discharge of a double-barreled shotgun tearing
away the fleshy part of the thigh. The gun was charged with buckshot and
was setting against a tree when a companion knocked it down and it exploded.
Drs. Cole, Hammond and McMahon are in attendance. They pronounce it the
worst flesh wound of their experience but hope to save the limb.
