SUDDEN DEATH
The people of Cortland were surprised last night on learning of the death of
Mrs. William Brocker who died suddenly at 8:30 o'clock Friday night January
21, 1898, with heart trouble. She had retired only a short time before.
She was heard to utter a peculiar noise when her husband hurried to her
bedside. A physician was called who did all in his power but to no purpose,
and she quietly passed away. Her age was about 35 years. She was an ardent
member of the M. E. Church and was highly respected by all. She was also a
member of the Cortland Grange by which order her funeral will take place at
Cortland at 11 o'clock tomorrow forenoon. A husband and eight children
survive who have the sincere sympathy of their many friends.
