RELATIVES TRACE MURDERER
New Evidence Discovered against Roy Hinterliter in Radcliff Girl's Death
Olney, Ill., July 28-Important new evidence has been found to support the
case being pieced together by Richland County officials against Roy
Hinterliter, accused of the murder of Elizabeth Ratcliffe (sic).
Sheriff West, in company with two brothers of the girl, who arrived from
Paoli, Ind., made a more exhaustive search of the ground in the vicinity of
the scene of the crime. They followed a lane into an orchard a quarter of a
mile north of the elm tree under which officials declare the bungled
operation was attempted.
Far in this lane there was found the wire used in the missing second
instrument, a shell hair ornament, and a half dozen hairpins of a special
design were found. A little apart were three soiled handkerchiefs rolled
together.
The hairpins are identical with those of the girl on her dresser at the
Fancher home.
