Indianapolis (IN) News, January 27, 1880, p. 3.
The employees of the DePauw American Plate Glass Works at New Albany have
sent in a demand for an increase of wages of fifteen percent or they would
strike Saturday next. The proprietor replied that there were few new orders
coming in and, unless the demand was withdrawn by six o'clock, the works
would close down Saturday. The men refused to withdraw, and the works will
close. There is no trouble in the window-house department.
