The Mathews family are likely to become wealthy by the sudden demise of
Leonard Case, the eccentric old bachelor of Cleveland, Ohio, who recently
committed suicide. It is claimed that Case left no will, and his property
is said to be worth about $14,000,000. Zaphere Case of Carlisle, Ill., and
the other heirs of Sarah B. Matthews, the next of kin, will get the fortune.
Mrs. Matthews, who resided in New Albany but is now dead, leaves five
children: L. G. Matthews, Rev. R. L. P. Matthews, late of Covington, Ky.,
Mrs. Mary B. Brin, Mrs. Margaret Wilson and Mrs. L. A. Louis. The last two
reside in Centralia, Ill. The Matthews heirs will get one half the estate
which will make each one a millionaire.
