Crawford County (IN) Democrat, February 28, 1900. NOTE: This item was
photocopied and included in a book of obits compiled by an unnamed person.
It is available at the Crawford County Public Library. There is no Scoot

adjacent county.
IN MEMORY OF OUR GRANDFATHER
William Brown died at his home in Scoot (sic) Township, February 10, 1900,
aged 81 years and six days. He leaves an aged sister, six children, 34
grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and many friends to mourn his
departure.
His wife and three children preceded him to the other shore. He united with
the Christian Church in 1868 and lived a consistent member until death.
It seems hard to say that Grandfather is gone never more to return to us in
this world. The old home seems lonely now. The vacant chair by the
fireside and many tokens of that loved one has cast a gloom over our hearts.
But none can fill the place of Grandpa. He now sleeps the sleep of death
that none ever made on earth. No more will we look upon his face or hear
his voice in this world. But may we live so that we may meet him in that
blessed land where parting is not known and the weary finds rest.
His remains were interred at the Potato Run Cemetery on Sunday, February 11,
in the presence of a large assembly of sorrowing relatives and friends. The
funeral was preached by Rev. Phillips.
