INCIDENTS AND ACCIDENTS
Henry Palmer of Columbus, Indiana, had wooed and won the affections of Miss
Hannah Pelillot (Petilliot is considered to be the correct spelling) of
Columbus but had neglected to win her muscular brother who felt called on to
whip him and he did so. Then Palmer got mad and took another girl to a
ball, whereupon the girl got excited and, the other morning, accompanied by
her brother waltzed over to Palmer's place of business and shot him through
the side. Physicians were called, and after the first shock was over,
Palmer sent for the girl, and she called at once. After mutual explanations
and expressions of regret, a great reconciliation took place, and they were
married, the groom lying in bed. The bride then took her place as nurse
and, at last accounts, was fanning the groom who was doing as well as could
be expected. The bride is a beautiful girl and both parties are highly
connected.
