IN MEMORIAM
When a good man dies in the prime of life, the community feels the shock,
and for a time the world in which we live seems darker and life sadder and
more uncertain. Such was the experience of the many friends and
acquaintances of Thomas Farlow who, on the 3rd day of January 1884,
exchanged "this earthly house for one not made with hands eternal in the
heavens." So brief was his illness that few knew of it until the sad
message went for, "He is dead."
Deceased was born in this county Feb. 2, 1840, and was happily married to
Ellen Lee in 1870, with whom he enjoyed that sweet happiness that comes
along from loving and being loved. Two sweet little boys and the faithful
companion of his life journey claim our sympathy in this sad hour of their
bereavement.
Orange County has lost one of her best citizens and the Friends' Church, of
which he was a member, has lost of its brightest ornaments.
So sudden and terrible was his disease, pneumonia, that he had only time to
imprint the farewell kiss and say goodbye.
