Salem (IN) Democrat, December 23, 1898, p. 8.
I cheerfully add my testimonial to what has been said by our Douglas
correspondent concerning the late Peter H. Zink, deceased. After three long
years' association with Mr. Zink during the dark and perilous times of 61-5,
we feel that we are competent to testify in his behalf. He was a man of the
strictest integrity and his entire army career so thoroughly manly and
dutiful that he commanded universal esteem. He was beloved by every
comrade. With such a record as a soldier, what could his civil life be but
that of a kindly, loving man in all walks of life.
