C. W. Cole, county auditor of Harrison County, was awakened by a burglar in
his room one night last week and, when the burglar found that he had aroused
Cole, he shot him in the breast the ball glancing on one of his ribs and
inflicting a painful but not necessarily fatal wound. The burglar escaped
through a window the way he came into the house.
C. E. Posely, a man of color, has been arrested and recognized by Mr. and
Mrs. Cole as the burglar and has been given a preliminary hearing and held
in $5,000 bond to answer the charge of burglary and assault with intent to
murder.
Mr. Cole is a nephew of Mrs. Letta Cole of this place.
