SPLIT IN TWAIN
There Will Be Two Sunday Schools Instead of One
The dissension in the Union Sunday School at Rugby has resulted in division
of the class and the greater portion of the membership, belonging to other
religious denominations than the United Brethren creed, withdrew from the
Rugby Church and went back to the Big Foot school house where the class was
originally organized two years ago.
At the regular meeting Sunday evening, the opposing element to the
continuance of the United Brethren literature for use in the class agreed
upon a proposition of compromising the existing difficulty by using the
United Brethren literature six months and then change to the Presbyterian
literature the remaining six months.
Rev. Robbins at Hartsville was called up by phone from Rugby yesterday and
the terms for compromise submitted him, but he was resolute and would not
accede to them, whereupon the other side was equally resolute and decided to
withdraw and will hereafter make Big Foot their place of meeting
The United Brethren wing of the class will hold a meeting at the Rugby
chapel next Sunday and reorganize and form a class of their own.
