FORMER CLINTON RESIDENT DIES
Mrs. Isabel Wolfe Dies of Influenza in Home in Salem, Ind.; Buried There
Clinton, January 24-Mrs. Isabel Wolfe, a former resident of Clinton, died in
her home in Salem, Indiana, on January 5 following an illness of several
weeks with influenza.
Mrs. Wolfe was born into a southern family near Shelbyville, Ky., July 15,
1844, a daughter of Henry V. and Ann E. Storts. She moved with her parents
to a beautiful home near Taylorville, Ky., in early girlhood where she
received the benefits of excellent educational advantages. A while before
the Civil War, the family came to Dewitt County. A little later she entered
McCorkle Academy of this city where she spent three years after which she
engaged in teaching school for a time.
She was united in marriage with J. B. Wolfe, July 7, 1864, whose friendship
extended over 70 years and whose marital life over 64 years. For the last
11 years her home had been in Salem, Indiana, where her husband is serving
his pastorate of 11 years of the Friends Church.
She leaves her husband and one daughter, Mrs. Grace H. Winslow of Western
Springs, Ill.
The burial took place near Salem, Indiana, January 7, the services being
conducted by the ministers of all the churches of the city and vicinity.
Flowers of kindly remembrances were sent from Chicago friends and those of
her home.
