SMALL POX EPIDEMIC IN CITY DECREASES
The smallpox epidemic in the city gradually is decreasing, there being only
four persons under quarantine with the disease, according to Dr. Russell A.
DeMotte, city health officer.
Two new cases were reported to the health officer Wednesday bringing the
city total to 22 cases reported during the epidemic. The new cases are:
Albert Dyer, Waterman Station, and W. G. McConlin, who has been taken to the
contagious hospital. Other cases are those of Elmer Lawrence, 636 North
Fairview, and George Russell, 813 West Seventh Street, that was reported
February 3.
The general health of the city is reported to be good, although ailments of
colds and minor diseases are reported to the city health officer. Several
childhood contagious diseases have been reported, but the epidemic stage has
not been reached in any instance.
