FORTUNE IN JEOPARDY
A New Albany, Indiana, Heiress Marries an Objectionable Suitor
Louisville, June 28-Miss Blanche Culbertson, the New Albany heiress, put a
fortune of $500,000 in jeopardy by being married at 5 PM to Leigh French of
Minneapolis at the parsonage of the Presbyterian Church in New Albany. Miss
Culbertson is the daughter of the late W. W. Culbertson, the New Albany
millionaire. French had been her suitor before the death of her father who
greatly objected to the young man. After his death a codicil to his will
was found that sought to prevent her marriage to French by providing that if
she married him within ten years she would forfeit her share to the estate,
about $500,000. A suit to set aside the codicil is now pending.
