SNYDER-George Snyder, formerly of this place, died at his home at Ft.
Thomas, Ky., Tuesday morning, October 19, 1920, aged 34 years, 10 months and
8 days. He had been in declining health since last spring following an
attack of the flu. Later, physicians said that he was suffering from a
cancer for which he underwent treatment. He spent some weeks here last
summer in the hopes of regaining his health but did not make any permanent
improvement and returned to Ft. Thomas about two months ago.
The remains were brought here at noon today and taken to the home of his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alex Snyder at Slygo where funeral services under
auspices of Washington Lodge No. 13 F. and A. M. will be held Thursday
afternoon at two o'clock. Rev. F. M. Moore, pastor of the Presbyterian
Church, officiating, followed by interment in Fairview Cemetery.
Deceased was born in Brownstown Township, December 12, 1885, at the Slygo
homestead about a mile and a half southeast of Brownstown. He attended the
Brownstown schools graduating in 1905 after which he took a mechanical
course at Purdue University, graduating therefrom in 1911.
For a number of years past, he has been employed as a traveling salesman for
the Davison Tool and Manufacturing Company of New York and stood next to the
highest as one of their most capable salesmen.
He was united in marriage December 12, 1920 (sic), to Miss Blanche Reynolds
who with one daughter, Alice, survive him. He also leaves his parents, four
brothers and two sisters, viz: Will and John of Memphis, Tennessee, Ed of
Franklin, Howard, Pearl and Blanch of this place.
At an early age he united with the Brownstown Presbyterian Church where he
has since retained his membership. He was a man of splendid moral character
and stood high in the estimation of all who knew him.
