NEGRO LYNCHED AT SEYMOUR
A dispatch to the Cincinnati Enquirer says that on Saturday morning the
attention of Mrs. Thomas Danvers of Seymour was attracted by a noise
evidently made for that purpose under s shade tree in the yard. She
discovered a burly negro on his back beckoning to her in a most insulting
manner and making a horribly indecent exposure. Mr. Danvers is an Ohio &
Mississippi engineer and was not at home, and the lady screamed in terror
attracting the attention of two railroad men who were passing. They
captured the negro, sent for several other muscular men, and the villain was
escorted to the woods where he was stripped, tied u and whipped with thorn
switches until the blood ran freely all over him. He was a strange tramp
and left for parts unknown as quickly as possible after being released.
