Seymour Suffers Costliest Fire in Its History
Seymour, Indiana, July 26-Fire loss in the business district here amounted
to $100,000. The Union Hardware Company, Hoffman's Dry Goods store,
Spreen's Racket store Hauenschild & Shutte's Cigar Store, Seymour Produce
Company and Hopewell's Livery Stable were burned out completely. Heavy
losses were sustained by John Dehler, clothing and shoe merchant; William
Straten, jeweler, and the Nodapp Hominy Company. Insurance carried will not
half meet losses. The origin of the fire is unknown. It is the most
destructive fire this city ever had.
