MITCHELL HOLDUP SUSPECT MAKES ESCAPE FROM COURT
Bedford, Indiana, March 16-Charles Voyles, charged with larceny, who is said
to answer the description of the man who held up William W. James, paymaster
for a cemetery company, obtaining $2,000, several days ago, escaped from a
justice court at Mitchell this morning while standing trial, charged with
stealing a revolver. Voyles was taken from the county jail here this
morning and was turned over to the Mitchell authorities. While awaiting
trial, Voyles filled his mouth with tobacco, making trips to the door to
expectorate. On the third trip he made a break for liberty and was gone
before anyone realized his intentions.
