A BIT OF HISTORY
Mr. Romanis S. Dingess, who exhibits his circus in this city, Thursday,
September 17, kept a grocery a New Washington in 1847. He was then a
prominent citizen of Clark County and was then a delegate to the county
convention that nominated William A. Ingram, now deceased, sheriff of Clark
County. Mr. Dingess engaged in the show business in 1851 and has followed
it ever since. He traveled with Forepaugh as an advance agent for twelve
years and then started a show of his own through which he has become very
wealthy. He resides on the lake shore in Chicago where he owns a $50,000
residence.
