GIVEN RIDE ON RAIL
Over at Story last night a crowd estimated at 500 took charge of Elihu Bond
and gave him an old-fashioned ride on a rail besides treating him and his
bride to a charivari. Mr. Bond and Miss Nellie Roush, prominent young
people of Van Buren Township, were married at Columbus Monday and when they
came home they were gladly received by their many friends. It required five
boxes of cigars and about 25 pounds of candy for the groom to treat the
crowd. It is reported that some of the ladies smoked cigars-"all looked
fine." Elihu seemed to enjoy the fun as much as any of the crowd, but he
said" if married life all through was like that, it would be a troublesome
life."
